I’ve fixed the frame, both rocker panels and cab corners, and now I need to decide what to do with the bed.

I still can't decide if this was worth it or not. It was minimal cost overall, and I think it will last a long time, so it probably was a good move. It's just painful to spend to much time and effort on something that was cheaply made to begin with. A flatbed would have been easily as much work, probably more with the sides, lights, etc, and would have cost a fair amount in steel too. In the end, I'm happy with how my truck looks again… A couple people have said those extra pieces that I deleted were to keep the bed from going sideways…but how the heck is that going to happen if the thing has 6 bolts holding it down tight to the truck frame? I think they were put there just for assembly, but if somebody can explain otherwise I'd appreciate it. Have an awesome weekend everybody!

Man you should of put your hat and glasses back on after the fire…lol. the buldges are indeed from heat, always cool with air after a pass with welder, then Hammer and dolly if you can access the back of the panel… and use short strand fiberglass over filler on freshly welded panels to seal in the welds.. bondo absorbs moisture. Looks good tho for an old farm truck!

I would have thought those lugs on the bed that weren’t replaced act as a safety feature. Perhaps they are needed to stop side to side movement of the bed. Without them, I assume the lateral movement would be countered only by the fixings (nuts and bolts). This is would likely be fine, 95% of the time. But when there is a heavy load in the back, sliding around, the stresses could amount to something which overtime could weaken the beds fixings.

@CaliRootstoTennesseeBoots says:

on your structural support bends, how did you figure out how much to allow for the bend when you marked the bend lines?

He said everything so wide open and floppy when you're trying to put it in. That's hilarious.

She's ugly. But she's not going anywhere. That's exactly what I say about my girlfriend.

@EmptyGlass99 says:

It looks great. Not perfect but who cares, it's a truck not a Ferrari.

I sure wish you would cut your kids in half you go into it so much you lose our attention! You have great ideas for videos because farm stuff covers everything, but at one in half hrs we could watch a full length movie ,people with attention problems we get lost fast

@DJS-b8n says:

Ya don't have to be perfect , Your doing a fine job! I would give a high grade of , A+ for enthusiasm , patience. And ,well performance. Ha haha.
