well after watching the video i ordered a replacement from ebay, and so far got the dash off and THE LEAKING HEATER CORE, pretty much worked with 10mm for the harness and steering column, 13mm for the dash brackets be the floor, 5/16ths (maybe???) for the bolts by the windsheild, and 7/16ths for the firewall retaining nuts and PCM… putting it back together tomorrow (rain, weekend, diesel mechanic during the week and this is the weekend…
all in all awesome video and huge help!
THANK YOU!!!

David Thorne says:

Great Video … thanks

TehGabe says:

There were three nuts that had to come off inside to get the heater box off, one on the right that was shown in the video, and two stacked in front of the heater core, the first one to hold the ground strap (which I forgot to put back on). Also, my steering column just dropped about six inches. Is that normal?

SteelArchGuy says:

Don’t know how you are the lucky one with a Ram that has a complete dash!
There is no way my dash would come apart like that, it’s already broken into many pieces!

Alison chatman says:

great thx man for the show how

Cameron Connolly says:

Thank you for this information, I just bought a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 LT V8 and found my heater was not working correctly, made loud noises when it was on max settings and nothing on normal setting, not too mention the strong odor of Radiator Fluid when the car was warm up. Would it be wise for me too just replace the Upper Dashboard Panel with the Heater Core, since I want too replace my entire Interior?

danraich says:

Thanks for the video, about to go start this on mine now.

dmagic1one says:

So based on the video you didnt have to get the AC disconnected?

Rene Del Rio says:

Very Good Video about to tackle one and its been a while since I have pulled a dash on an old dodge Thanks

gmcelmurry says:

Best video I’ve seen yet Thanx !!

bubbabeatiful says:

2.5 hours thx for the tips . saved me alot of time

Rickey Jordan says:

How long did it take ?

Mike Theune says:

If your ram is a early year the dash will most likely crack. Mopar had a service bulletin back in the day cause they used too much resign on them…If you do it the way I said the box which you dont see will be cut but the dash will stay nice….Just sayin’ You sir made a nice video thanks for the upload. Just wanted to add my lil tidbit. Cheers 🙂

Mike Theune says:

BEATER TRUCK……Use a sonic tool and cut the plastic out behind the glove box. Cut a SLit through the metal on the bottom of the dash, bend outwards. Then use a small screwdriver and get the top phillips out. Use the Sonic tool under the hood and cut the tubes flush with the firewall. Then cut the seperator plastic. Use sonic tool to cut the plastic cover off the front of the heater box that holds the core….Pull core out. Replace and glue cover back to heater box 1.5 hr.. BEATER TRUCK. 🙂

Great Video Bro Thanks A Million..

Ljon077 says:

Thank you so much for posting this video, me and my son were able to replace his heater core because you took time to make this video!
Thumbs up and many thanks!!

Ralph M Bohm says:

Thank you for taking the time out in sharing with us this job. What was Dodge thinking when they designed THIS idiocy? I will post after I survive MY attempt at changing my core out. Thanks again.

Ralph M Bohm says:

You are such an ass. Didn’t know this man was here for your personal beck and call. He took his time out to help us and that’s all you have to say. You are one ungrateful individual. After all that he showed us here, and if you can’t figure out hoe to pull the core, maybe you have no business trying to fix your own truck.

monkeyboy00072 says:

Your video is excellent. I just used it and by far 100% easier than trying to go step by step in the service manual. Many thanks man

jlsledge says:

Kinda choppy video, but I was able to use it. Thanks for saving me the $1100 the dealer quoted me. 01 Dodge Ram 1500 Sport

Gil Molina says:

very helpful u just saved me 400$ in labor.very much appreciated

jphutube says:

I just replaced mine on a 2000 Ram 2500 Cummins. Your video helped a lot. Only differences were: 1) I used a hack saw and cut the tubes off the OEM core to get it out, then the new core has swiveling tubes so I could work it in without removing the CPU, and dropping the heater box. CAUTION: If your truck is old, moving the dash around WILL crack it. Mine basically turned to dust doing this job.

1936rigger says:

thanks for the video.. let me know right off the bat TAKE IT TO A MECHANIC!!!!

jhvanderwater says:

Dumb! You didn’t show the HARD part of getting the heater core OUT and then putting it back IN. Thanks for nothing!

zavman109 says:

Thanks for the great instructions, VERY helpful. I just finished mine. Just some tidbits here that might help. There are four nuts in the engine compartment that hold the HVAC box, and the one inside on the upper right. I wasn’t sure I had them all because it was hard to get the box loose from the firewall, knowing the count should help.

Hamel1023 says:

Thanks for the video. You’re step by step instructions made changing the heater core a lot easier than following a manual.

Fred King says:

one more thing the screw that holds down the the heater core lines is the reason i had to pull my heater core box back wa so i could get at that screw and remove the keeper for the lines.

Fred King says:

Sweet bro, tx 4 the heads up. I did my 01 1500 and finished with no screws left over, wasn’t record time but I am very satisfied with the job due to your info. Theres a few things on the 01 such as no need to unhook and wiring harness except for the ac controls on passenger side , steering colum no need, so again tx 4 your time.

Stephanie Calvo says:

Your video was very helpful but the stearing column is stuck do you know how to free it?

vanislboy says:

well done video

drummking42 says:

kinda stupid!

ECFD101 says:

First of all, THANKS for the video! Saved me a ton of time, 99 ram 2500 diesel start to finish 4 hrs 25 mins .

fastodie says:

hmmmm maybe its is the grommets, because the liquid is clear but ill check it out again

muncleike says:

well if your truck is running ok,then it might be a leak at the bottom of the window, also check the firewall to see if any gromits/plugs or anything are missing.is it always wet? or maybe only after it rains? i am 90% sure the only thing with water running through it under your dash is the heater core, but it should be antifreeze not water.

fastodie says:

its not antifreeze because its been like 2yrs that i notice the leak and the engine temp is normal…Sooo I dont know what it is
