thanx so much great vidseo and info!
Thanks for uploading the vid Manny, Good to see people helping others out
on youtube. But i just wanted to add a few things . I hope it helps…..
You only need to take out the 3 bolts on the back of the bearing hub
assembly, that will let the axle and bearing all come out at once. so you
dont have to take the Castle nut off of the stub shaft. its “best top keep
that nut on the stub shaft”. There is no reason to take it off, Plus When
they get taken of on on multiple times, they seem to wear the threads,
especially on factory stub shafts, and it keeps the bearing pressed
properly when you leave the nut on the shaft. and you can get away with
not taking off the tie rod also.just keep the Assembly held up with a
bungie or rope so it doesnt hang. Every body…. make sure you Torque
all ball joints to proper Specs. and if you happened to take the stub
shaft nut off ( I dont recommend)… definitely make sure you torque that
nut properly, or else you will be replacing the wheel bearing soon. it
will wear them out fast if they are not properly torqued. thanks : )
Good job
Uhhhhh… every other.. uhhhhhhh.. word is .. uhhhhhhhhhhh uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
uhhhhhhhhhh and it uhhhhhhh takes 10 minutes to uhhhhhhhhhhhhh explain
something that uhhhhhhhhh should take uhhhhhhhhhh 2 minutes without
uhhhhhhhh saying uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh between every other uhhhhhhhhhhh word.
did your lower ball joint come with a snap ring? mine did and wasn’t able
to use it?
good quality ball joints wouldn’t of spun cause they make very tight
My main reason for replacing the ball joints was a lot of play at the
wheel. While it was jacked up, i grabbed the top of the wheel and pulled it
in and out, and could see the movement.
Thanks for the video. I wasn’t going to atempt this but now I have decided
to at least look at it and then make an informed assesment of the situation
agin thanks for the insight Johnny Rotten
Thanks for posting…what was the symptom that lead you to a faulty ball
joints diagnosis?
the hardness part is parting in back together,..lol
Yup!
Great vid that helped allot! Now as for your gun auction site, do you sell
to Canadians. Cuz it’s real hard to get a gun up here.
hi manny could you please contact me at my email, i have a few questions
for you regarding my dodge ram 2500 my email is, excentrictattoos@yahoo.com
thank you sir.
Thanks for your comments!
so like 30 min job with impact. lol
Sorry – the gun auction site is only for US citizens. Wish it were
otherwise.
Sorry, I don’t remember the size of the nut on the lower ball joint.
Great video! Thank you for the help. What was the main reason for you
replacing those…a lot of play in the steering..? I’m also in Utah:)
I throw the ball joints into the freezer for a few hours and on a nice warm
day they just drop in by hand 🙂
i find youtube to have a large lack of maintenance videos on the late 90’s
dodge rams. your video was very very helpful… keep them coming please!
Thanks for your comments. If I have any other repairs to do, I’ll put them
up!
It took about two hours per side
Thanks! I’m definitely using your video for my job on my upper an lower
ball joints 🙂
how long that take you to do?
I’m replacing mine in my 74 k-10 This weekend. Not so much as they need it.
Having a front wheel bearing freeze on the freeway and 2 days latter a
12×35 tire exploded on the same freeway that propelled me from the carpool
lane up the gravel embankment on the right my eye was starting to twitch
every time I started it. But I’m feeling much better now.
it always looks easier then doin it lol but u did a great job and showed me
a lot
Very nice video very helpful. I have one thing for ya though lol the reason
the bottom took so much pressure is there is a c-clip around the top edge
were the zerg fitting was to keep it from coming out while driving and
such. Again thanks for very helpful video!
You should do the Ram sport headlight conversion with bright box. nothing
beats 4 headlights burning at once!
