I can’t recall ever seeing one in worse shape than what I caught on video
here. Take a look at this inner tie rod. They said they never felt anything
different about the steering..

Oakland Raider says:

I have the same issue with my 2000 dodge intrepid and I have been driving
it for a year now ..I know ..stupid right ?…anyway it has gotten so bad
that the wheels shake on the free way. My question is ..I bought new Tie
rods and well I was wondering what holds down the inner tie rod ends
..bolts? And am I going to have to get new ones .

dbatch1715 says:

What wrench do you use to get the bolts off the steering rack? I’m afraid
of breaking them. Are they left hand threaded? Thanks.

ItsAll Good says:

This is my exact problem with my car. Bought the new bushings and going to
install them tomorrow.

1250BanditSA says:

Yep. I had a 2001 Chrysler Concorde that got as bad as the Intrepid in this
video. One day my wife just went and traded it in for an Avenger. Yuck!
Whatever. I still have my 2001 Intrepid R/T. It is beginning to show the
steering curse of the LH cars. Parts are cheap, but a bear to swap out.

Heifer Hef says:

my ’98 ES Intrepid also, BEWARE after market inner tie-rod bushing kits
have smaller diameter bolt heads, so the locking tabs don’t really lock
down the heads like they should and the bolts back out and can even shear
off (yes, this is my situation) Find OEM size bolts or prepare to somehow
ensure locking down bolt heads. This is very serious.
