I have a 2000 Dodge Durango that will not shift into 2nd. Goes into D and
Reverse fine. Just changed the fluid and filter. I have 110,346 mi. I put a
code sensor on it and it showed no codes and my engine light did not come
on. Was these the symptoms you had when you replaced the TPS? I’m gonna try
it tomorrow. very useful information . Mahalo!

If your last straw is replacing the PCM you should be able to replace this
yourself with no problem, just be careful not to damage the holding clips
on the wiring harness to the PCM. Sorry I cannot tell you exactly what part
to replace to solve your problem it can be very tricky diagnosing these
things.

wgw001 says:

Yes you can change it if it is not bad if anything it will improve your
performance if it is an older Durango, the part is not expensive. There is
no adjustments after it is installed. Just follow my directions in the
video and you’ll be fine. You’re welcome.

Thank you so much for your video. My family was traveling on vacation when
our TPS went. I found your video, we stopped at the nearest auto zone and
were back on the road in about 15 minutes. You’re a life saver!!!

@ wgw001 i have been having some trouble with my Durango 2000, the power
cuts off and it says ” no Bus” on the odometer.. it will take sometime and
then it starts again. i have replaced the auto- shut down relay but it
didnt fix the problem… do you know what could it be?

wgw001 says:

If you are mechanically inclined and can do your own repairs I would start
with the least expensive suggestions first and replace PCM as a last
resort. I would first start with checking your wiring harness that goes to
the PCM moving it around to see if it will start the vehicle backup, it may
not be getting a good connection, sometimes road vibration can loosen a
connection, or if there is dirt or corrosion on your connector pins can
also cause it to not get a good connection.

Dorene Hall says:

I just want to thank you for this great information. I had my car to 3
mechanics to fix this problem over the last 3 years and the engine light
kept going off before it could be read. I was able to read it myself and
with your help it took less than 10 minutes to fix the problem. I know I
saved a bundle, the part was less than $40. thank you again for the new
smooth ride. YEAH!!!!!

wgw001 says:

It is terrible to have automobile problems while you’re on the road
traveling especially a vacation. I am so glad that this video was able to
help you and get you going it again.

thanks !!!!

I did not have the symptoms that you are describing. If you check my other
video called “Dodge Durango Transmission overdrive problem” you will see
the symptoms I was having and the reason why I replaced the throttle
position sensor. It sounds to me like you may have to have your
transmission rebuilt, I suggest talking to a transmission repair center
about your symptoms.

wgw001 says:

There can be several issues that may cause this problem you are having from
a bad ground or shorted wire to possibly the Powertrain Control Module
Computer (PCM) going bad. It could also be a sensor, if you replace a
sensor you may have to reset the PCM. It is hard to tell what is causing
your problem without me actually there to to run tests to diagnose it. I
would suggest doing a Google search on your problem if you have not done so
already.
