I guess it’s a little late to tell you that the factory starter is a
Nippondenso(Japanese) which last a long time, and that the clicking problem
is a burned contact disc in the solenoid. Dave had a how-to on the repair
before his channel got removed by the hater fuckers.

EdzGarage says:

Lifetime warranty is good.

@clubcar98 Some remanufactured parts are ok to buy, but not all of them. On
my 77 Impala i used to buy cheap remanufactured master cylinders from Big
Wheel/ Rossi, and they always leaked until i bought the Napa remanufactured
one. After that no probs. Remanufactured water pumps are ok. Starters, and
alternators are best to buy new though. Especially starters in my opinion,
but i suppose remanufactured alternators are ok.

craig1974 says:

@edzgarage Yes it is Ed. Especially during this made cheap period.

As a heavy equip. mechanic of 30 years I agree with Tyler, the clicking was
inside the solenoid, and is a relatively easy fix. Fixed, it would last a
LONG time. I had a similar problem years ago in a Nissan z car and thought
it was the starter because besides clicking the starter also was turning
over slow… I took the nippondenso starter apart and was amazed at how
well and strongly the starter was made… most detroit cars of that era had
only bushings the Denso had FOUR ball bearings!

clubcar98 says:

I also try to stay away from remanufactured parts in general. Especially
parts that are hard to replace… Hopefully it works good for awhile…and
hopefully you won’t have any more issues with this truck for awhile
either…

craig1974 says:

@ncrdisabled Some parts are ok remanufactured, but not all of them. A
remanufactured water pump, or alternator are ok, but im really picky about
starters. Since i dont like to crawl under vehicles much i buy the better
starters made to last.

Wohooo a made in china starter installed in a “Canadian branded car/truck”
Awesome. And that concludes this comment bye

craig1974 says:

@mbyr31 Thanks! Easy job, but the top bolt can be a bitch to thread in
because you cannot see yourself threading it in. You have to guess.
Remanufactured alternators are ok i guess, but starters no! The
remanufactured alternator in my old 77 Impala was ok, and lasted. I
remember when me, and Ted installed it we had to take the first one back to
Big Wheel/Rossi because the casing was put on wrong lol.

mbyr31 says:

I’m not a fan of some remanufactured parts. Some are ok, but starters and
alternators, no way! Everything is made in china now…But, lifetime
warranty is definitely good! Wow..That starter looked easy to install.
Great job Craig!

ncrdisabled Submarine vet says:

I am the same way before I became disabled I never buy remanufactured parts
for the hard to get to and important parts I bought a remanufactured
radiator and so far on my 1991 toyota camry it has lasted for 4 years.
