Have fun! this took us a while, since it is so compact! I would suggest not torquing on the compressor to much, but enough to move the alternator out.

Thank you for posting this. I was wondering if you can get the alternator
out from the top no matter the size of the engine? I have a 2007 and was
going to attempt to change the alternator, I am not very knowledgeable with
mechanics, but I am broke so I don’t really have a choice. I read on
another website that they took the alternator out by removing the front
right wheel? It looked really complicated, so I am hoping that I can do it
this way instead! Thanks for any advice you may have!
i am currently having to do this on my 2008 Jeep Compass and wasn’t sure if
i should remove the power steering pump from up top or the AC Compressor.
Thanks for the video!
Could not have said it any better! good luck!
Your welcome!
I just tackled this job on my 2007 and your video here saved me a bit of
time and headache. Thanks a lot!
Thanks for watching, and commenting!
You need socket sets for American and metric. Open box wrenches, push bar.
And a lot of patience
Do I have to remove the ac compressor..
You have to take of the bolts to move it but you don’t disconnect the hoses.
good luck
True that! Remember the good old days when stuff was easy to get at and
replace? Now it’s an exercise in frustration!
The alternator is at very bottom, You’d have to take every pully out along
the way. We had the wheel removed when I was doing this. Broke like you, I
did this myself. 🙂 thanks for watching. Also, you have very little of
choice but to take it off from bottom due to clearance for tools. Good
Luck, and I’m glad you found this video. Took most of my day, thats why i
decided to do the video, so others can be helped out as well.
I had to change the decoupler pulley on the alternator today and was
thankful for this video. I was following another video which used a Dodge
Avenger. All the same except for the air compressor which is very tight.
Thanks for showing that the compressor can be muscled out of the way
without breaking any of the lines. Just don’t pull it any further than you
have too.

I rechecked the cables all there…
I put in a new alternator and battery…But after a few drivers my dodge
truck goes dead.Any ideals?
I never discharged anything of the a/c coolant.
they should find the guy who designed this and stick the alternator up his
ass and tell him to take it out…..unbelievably stupid!!!
I’m about to ATTEMT this… lol Here we go!!!!!
my guess you forgot a cable for alternator.
Is it possible to do this without having to discharge and then recharge the
A/C?
