Newer Toyotas have the ECM under the hood as well

James Fluri says:

Had a 1987 Chrysler LeBaron coupe. It had 2 different computers, a logic module and a power module. The logic module was under the hood mounted on the firewall and was part of the intake pipe before the air filter that supplied the intake manifold. All the road dirt and water would shower all over it. Marvel of modern technology

Trenton2005 says:

Even when Scotty is ill he has enough energy to dog on Chrysler and wave his arms around a bunch

Ninjafrogz says:

"Suckin' on it's good enough."
That's what my wife said.

tami japink says:

Just started watching your videos and I sure hope you will show ford rangers here soon.
I have a ford ranger and I need you input on searching for the random misfires.

Omar 90s says:

Scotty sounds like he just woke up

Noodle Gunner says:

I would just take the engine & electrics out, then stick in an engine from the 1960’s with a simple loom. No computers at all.
Would also put in a stick shift gearbox with overdrive.

Who needs the expense of modern motoring?

Gary Cleland says:

Hey Scotty, hope you feel better soon buddy, take care! you are a great asset to the DIY community and the auto industry as a whole sir!!!!!

Always Curious Always Learning new things says:

I have seen a few vehicles are under the hood, if I remember correctly my 04 ford ranger was like that had the computer access mount unmount was under ther hood passengerside I think its stupid esecially for a four-wheel drive.
years back I thijnk the 80s maybe 90s most of the cars I worked on had them behind the glove box which makes much or sense to me sure it an be a slight hjassle when you are over 6'tall getting in there but at least less change of it getting soaks or soem type of weather or heat damage.
a transmission mechanic friend I had yrs back was tellign me of the nightmare of shifting issues in car with cars when they first came out with computer and sensors on transmitions that woukld act up and many shops where tellling ther custioopmers tha tthey needed a rebuiild, he was let go because he was honest and most times would lify the car or truck p on the hoist check the wires give the side of the trans a tap drop the vehicle doen the vehicle had no more issues, his boss was upset becasue of the so called money they lost but he argiued tha tit was betetr for honesty plus the company was still chargign the min shop time to do this whioch meant more cars in and out . he was showing customers that could afford the rebuild what to do, I mean he was saying sure he would rebuild the trans but the same sensors would be going back in unless the customers wanted new ones.
anotehr thing a shop Iwoprked is was goign back i nthe 1990s was with one car sales company I think it was Kia a car would get a traded int the sales men would bring the car to the ship if it had many miles on it then the owner of the shop I worked for would replace the computer with a used one from the local auto wrecker that most times showed much lower miles, I doubt tha tthis can be done nmow at least not simply its a dirty trick .
