My guess would be that it might store mileage and vin on the radio and because its malfunctioned it throws a code akmost like a tamper code? Ive had my lcm throw a tamper dot for bmw becaue of this
It's way cheaper for them to make everything run through one touch screen unit and charge customers more for vehicles because they seem fancier. Then when one thing breaks you are forced to buy a $2000 unit instead of a $5 relay

If it needs to be Emission tested I would look at the nonitors to see if everything has passed. If it has, it should pass. I've never had a radio fail in a Piecacrapica so that is new for me.
