Replacing a Camshaft position sensor on a 2002 Chrysler Sebring

As you saw in my other video of the Sebring, it kept stalling and the check engine light FINALLY came on a few weeks ago out of no where stating a Cam sensor…

I crack up every time I see this because I feel your pain! My wife has this
car and I had to replace the camshaft sensor also. Those hose clamps are
the fucking worst man! Then again replacing anything on that car including
the battery is a pain in the ass!

Gunner1906 says:

Me too….I crack up also when I watch this shit,,,It’s a hoot.

Trudie L. Isitt says:

Oh how I feel the pain..
I do have a question??

Unfortunately I have this car..
drove it home from church sunday & was running fine, went to gotot work &
wouldn’t turn over fast, It turns over really slow like cam is binding,
replaced starter, & new battery.
There were no codes at all??
ready to send to junk yard.

had mechanic come look told me yea for sure cam shaft sensor.. 1500.00 to
fix…

so feeling you pain Im going to go get a sensor and change it & see if this
is it..if not any one any suggestions??

thank you

moldymac says:

@norcalcollectibles It was pretty easy using basic tools. I don’t recall
how long it took.

shoe chew says:

funny to watch. Thanks!

Ajaces says:

I learned something, thanks for making the video.

moldymac says:

@Mdwagner88 I think everyone uses these things now, this is just the first
time I ran into these. Probably being this is the newest car I own.

moldymac says:

Pro mechanics probably have the right tools to make this less of a pain in
the ass though.

John Hautaluoma says:

fuckin “A”

Joe Martin says:

if you’re so damn sensitive, don’t watch the fucking movie. he didn’t have
to help you. quit complaining

Jenn Roberts says:

@afp5013 that just happened to me. at stops/red lights my car would idle
obviously and eventually just shut down. my mechanic changed my Idle Air
Flow sensor. so far so good. i also got my camshaft replace bc my car would
make a chirping sound

cummingsautocare says:

All the shitty problems you had with the special spring loaded hose clamps
was due to you using “pliers” to service them. Get the special tool…..the
one with a cable. It works so good that you could remove the hardest clamp
blindfolded and still be done faster than the easist one to get to with
“pliers” Those are literally one of the best buys I ever made, since those
clamps are so common nowadays I also bought a special set of clamp pliers
which were useless. They were given to my appentice.

great help man

VirgiliusRomanus says:

Hey Moldymac, I have posted a video of a sensor that oil is leaking around
it, is behind the engine but i can’t find it in the repair manual. do you
know what it is by any chance?

Jason Burkey says:

i agree them fucking claps are a piece of fucking work. why can they just
use the conventional fucking clamps the screw jobie ones. Thanks for the
Video man

drew hood says:

@moldymac Craftsman makes a special pair of pliers that take those clamps
off no problem. I bought a pair for like 45 bucks and used it to get those
things off, then replaced them with screw type hose clamps. well worth 45
bucks! Serch sears for hose clamp pliers

smallbee1234 says:

@Jaso0n1986 I think they (Chrysler and other auto manufacturers) use these
types of “compression clamps” for the sake of speed and ease of assembly.
Rather than using a traditional hose clamp that requires adjusment and
tightening, a clamp that simply opens up and drops it to place eliminates
the need for further handling. I would surmise this is important where the
manufacturing process of a car is timed down to the second.

moldymac says:

Thanks, my garage is a non-stop swear-athon

stephyl2010 says:

Hey my sebring is doing the same thing. All the lights turned off and the
car just died. Then it came back to life. Before this happen my lights and
radio would turn off for a split 2nd. Can it be the fuel pump? Its a
sebring 1999 lxi.

NRP1991 says:

yeaaaa thats how it works gotta make it a real pain in the dick to do
anything modern shit

moldymac says:

Your welcome.

cbradiotechman says:

i think they purposely make these newer cars harder to work on for these
reasons: 1. so people would be more tempted to take the car to the place
were they bought it 2. because robots assemble these so they have tighter
tolerances.

dboyz0123 says:

Hey man, I am debating between getting a Sebring convert 2002 or a 2001
convert. 3.8 mustang. I hear the 2.7 engines are bad. I like sebring
interior, luxurious. Also, a mustangs seats in the back as small as feck.
However, which one do u think is better bro? I used to drive a lebaron GT
convert..lol. It was bad, it blew piston rings, some seonsors went.
Although to replace the engine woulda been cheap, but I didnt. I like
sebrings, but not sure about chrysler cause of lebaron. Advise?

Anthony Damac says:
