The traditional way of installing a splash shield is by going underneath the car to remove it 🔧, which is the way it’s done in this video. However a lot of work can be done from the front of your car while kneeling.

You could reverse the process of installing this with the tools mentioned below, or you can go to the direct video of removing of the splash shield video right here:

ℹ️ You do not need a floor jack or car ramps, but you’ll have more space to fit underneath the car if you use either of them. Anyway ALL the tools 🧰 needed are below:

📋 GUIDE FOR INSTALLING THE LOWER ENGINE COVER GUARD IS BELOW:

Preparation:

1) Gather all tools as outlined above.
2) Remove bolts from old splash shield.
3) Remove as many of the gray clips as possible from the old shield with a pry bar and place on the new lower engine shield.

INSTALLATION:

1) Position and line up the splash shield underneath the car near the oil filter. It should lay or fit in a portion of the bumper guard without falling. If it falls then it’s not pushed in enough.

2) Scoot down and push and line up again the splash guard with the holes on the bumper.

3) Screw in a few bolts, and then use either a 7mm socket with a ratchet or 9/32 socket. You could also use a power drill to be faster if preferred.

At this point you can finish tightening all the bolts underneath the car or in front of the car. Their should be a total of 10 bolts to tighten.

4) Place 3 of the rivet clips which attach to the mud flap and to the splash shield located on the side of the wheel area.

5) Place the other 3 rivet clips on the opposite side.

6) Put on a couple bolts 🔩 or a clip on the center of the splash cover to provide further reinforcement.

Can you show what the pins or brackets are the broke off so Ik what parts I need cause my splash shield on my 2013 is completely destroyed and had to replace the front bumper

Heinz Guderian says:

That's the "closeout panel", not the lower splash shield. The splash shield goes under the engine.

Chris lee says:

What was that tube hanging, might be a dumb question but recently lost my splash guard due to a dip and noticed the tube exposing just like the one in the video. Want to be sure it’s nothing I should be concerned about

Mine is hanging off and drags when I tried to drive it. I've barely driven it and didn't run over anything. Does the car need it? If I get someone to take it off will it damage the car? This was my late husband's car and it's getting on my nerves!!!

joaqui pereira says:

Hello, very good video!
I’m trying to install it on mine 300c but it has 2 bolts (one on each end) holding like 2 little bars, my question is can I take it out or will it get damaged? Thank you

Erik Caldwell says:

Hi. When you remove the plastic clips, do they usually need replaced with new ones? Does removing them damage them?
