Where can I get a Norris Auto Clinic t-shirt?
How much time was spent on this and what is book price for such a repair?
Sound is horrible.
2002 pontiac trans am
@ingrown. At Norris auto clinic this repair with an aftermarket remanfactured rack around $600 give or take. At a dealer closer to $1200
@slowpoke96Z28 what is the year make and model of the car you are having troubles with?
I need a video like this for a newer gm power rack and pinion. I cannot get the stupid rack out.
Thats about how much fluid im using in week, lol. How much does a repair like this cost with labor included?
@Inngrown This repair was labor intensive but was required. Fluid was leaking around the pinion gear seal so bad the customer was using a quart a week of power steering fluid. Watch out Diagnosig a power steering leak video to see how we found exactly where the leak was coming from!
Lots of work for a power steering leak. I have the same leak, too bad it wasnt the hose i could’ve fixed it my self 🙁
Having a lift in my opinion has become a necessity. We would like thank Norris Auto Clinic for allowing us to use their facility’s and equipment. You can check them out at Norrisautoclinic . com
must be nice to have a lift.
Depending on the costumer sometimes prefer to rebuild. I have a local guy that rebuilds all of my starters and alternators. When I get the chance and I have the costumes time and I can find the parts I like to rebuild as much as I can. I was taught old school. My grandfather said why replace it when you can fix it and make more money. Of course this is not true in all cases.
Normally a replacement is more cost effective in this type of repair. Of course the rebuild time only took about thirty minutes extra. This shop usually replaces rather than rebuild but there is a local rebuild place that they have used before. We mainly rebuilt this for educational purposes. You don’t see many videos on rebuilding. Thanks for the comment and interest!
Great information but is it even worth it to rebuild rather than replace? Does your shop also rebuild components such as starters and alternators? I’m just curious to learn if its worth it to the shop tying up the bay for the additional time. I know at my shop the owner/ manager would never hear of it. Either way again thank you for the information. Very educational.
