dude you frickin rock! !!!!! I feel a debt owed to you…I found another kink in the magnums armor …suddenly my car idled rough one morning ..engine check light went on..I traced the problem to ignition coil (drivers side very front by the headlight, makes sence that this cylinder runs hot because there is nothing surround the plug to absorb heat.hope you can use that tid bit of knowledge. fixed a small crack with a dab of silicone

Martin Messano says:

Thank you for the video. Followed all your steps. It was a little intimidating at some points but now that I’ve done it without breaking any parts it certainly beats the heel of what a dealer would have charge. And I certainly take more care for my car.

chiawneen says:

Thank you!!! I was able to change my shift interlock latch (replaced with he alloy)!!!!! You just saved me 400.00! Because the dealership said I had to replace my whole shift kit!! So hairdresser by day………youtube mechanic by afternoon! Thanks again!!!

J Bash says:

Hey guys-I just fixed this using his video but don’t jerry-rig the plastic part-just buy the newer metal piece. It’s the same thing only metal so if you do it yourself, you only have to do it once. Here’s the part number: 924-706.

Also, the ratchet you need is a deep socket because the nuts are on long-screws. you’ll see what I mean. I think mine was 10mm. My car is a 2006 dodge charger 5.7L hemi. I am not mechanically inclined, but his vid helped though! If i can do it, you can too!

jhkayzmom says:

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!!!!!!

Honey Hole says:

I love chrysler produces, and I’am sorry that chrysler would not stand up and put a recall on this and fix and replace the faulty part! I’am too a victim as well, I was lucky it happen in my the next morning in my garage as well! This 06′ daytona only has 9k miles on it and this daytona is in showroom condition! I hate to have to tear into a like new car, like every one else they wonted 300 bucks to fix it! We should not have to ! They should come out and fix it for us Cheers that my bitch

destry sellers says:

Awsome but on my 05 300C the shiftknob unscrewed instead of sliding off

berumenamanda says:

Hey marko that happened to me at first also but we figured it out kinda” you dont really need to have the white plug power starter connected the only thing is any Chrysler key can start it. Idk if I helped sry 😉

berumenamanda says:

Omg this man right here saved my life! I had no idea what to do with my car trouble” all I knew was it wasn’t shifting! But watching the video fixed everything! Im soo happy I came across this video thanks ♡

marko luciano says:

So I did everything like that but the car won’t let my key out when I start the car

csanchezcuba says:

I managed to find a temporary fix, instead of putting the car into parking I leave it in reverse and turn it off in that position, after that I move the stick into parking and then pull the key out as it normally pulls out, my question is how can I make it work the way it should work, which is to be able to pull the key out after parking, I am guessing it has to do with the cable in the left side, the one that hooks into the piece I installed, please any advice and tips will be appreciated.

csanchezcuba says:

Hi there friend, before all I would like to thank you for making this so easy to follow tutorial, thanks to you the only delay I suffered was the time that amazon took to deliver the replacement part. I bought one identical to the factory piece, but this time its metal made. I have one concern tho, the shifting its working just as it should now that I replaced the pink piece, however the key wont completely turn to lock after I turn off the therefore preventing me from pulling the key out.

Jorge Henriquez says:

Hopefully it’s not hard to change a part

deemitch420 says:

Thanks bunches.my wife got stuck dropping kids off this morning in front of school. Dad to the rescue! Watched ur video, and bam yee yee! Fixed! Ius then I Spit to heat a hole in the side of it then put a screw in it in connected the spring to the screw. Now it’s better than OEM.

KamikOzzie says:

hey my mobile mechanic removed the pink piece and the green piece and said it’s just safety measure pieces i’ve been driving just fine without them, should i be worried??

Steve Long says:

So My 2007 charger rt has the same issue (with the PRND8 showing). i watched your videos and try to fix the shifter not moving but got stock so i bought a new one from chrysler. installed it and still won’t shift. My car will not go pass 37(which i assumed is the 1st gear) even when i tried to floored it(all it does is shaking with loss of power). obviously my shifter was fine but any idea what might be wrong? code UO103 lost communication with gear shift module is what i get!
please Help

Jiggymomma says:

Thanks, we are going to replace out shifter interlock with an metal one so we don’t have this problem again. This video shows how easy it is going to be to repair and replace.

Soulcommander says:

This happened on my daughters 2006 Charger….I used an eye screw to replace the broken tab. You will need a tiny drill bit and drill a tiny hole…then screw in a small eye screw and fix is complete.

erniedaman says:

I’m stuck at this very spot. Going to try assembling it again while in Drive to see if it allows me to turn the ignition completely off and release my key.

markopolo82 says:

Thanks for making this video! You saved me a ton of money! :))

Jpkrao says:

They can use plastic parts. But, they shouldn’t make out of plastic, vital parts such as that pink thing that is located in the shifter block. Chrysler made a poorly designed flimsy part. The tiny hook on that piece of cheap pink plastic is constantly strained by the repealing spring. Thus, anyone with a brain would expect it to break, only in a matter of time. If it was engineering mistake, Chrysler should fire the person who decided to make that part out of plastic.

iAMxZombie says:

Its a good thing all cars use plastic parts, so you should probably ride a bike 🙂

MCGRABI says:

Thanks Jeff. It took a few hours and I got some laundry done at the same time.
I used a cork screw for my spring stretching tool. There is plenty of grease inside the shifter box from assembly. I used a Q tip to borrow some and lube the new install.

art ramos says:

My key was stuck im my ignition on my 06 dodge magnum. After trying everything I can think of I gave up on it. Days later I turned the key and it came right out. Do you have any idea what happened? And how can I prevent it from happening again.

Drae2g2 says:

Man let me tell you…IT FEELS GOOD TO SAVE $350 NOT INCLUDING LABOR TO FIX THIS MECHANICAL FAILURE!!!!! I just upgraded to a billet piece which came with a spring and now I can drive plumcrazy harder than ever!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for your instructional video. FYI….When placing the new part on use a little of the white grease underneath the cover where the reverse button is to prevent stick up.

Marlenne Barros says:

Video was very helpful. I’m a girly girl and I was able to do this. when I tell people I fixed my own car they laughed. Your video was simple and easy to follow. Thanks! I replaced the pink thing with a metal thing I found at Billet technology. It was a great find. Thanks to the lady who posted where to buy it.

Snuffaluffagiz says:

Just fixed my gf 300. But the shifter interlock I bought was not plastic metal I guess. It’s a simple fix and this video is VERY HELPFUL. Just make sure before bolting down shifter that it moves as should. Appreciate the video and way more helpful than the other videos !

Badger063232012 says:

Thanks! This is much simpler and more detailed than the other instructions on how to fix this problem.

Jpkrao says:

Plastic?!!!! Plastic stuffs that can easily break?!! Incredible!!! This is a serious reason one shouldn’t buy a Chrysler or a Dodge.
I had to get my Chrysler 300C towed yesterday; it is was stuck in park because that idiotic piece of plastic likely broke.

Youssef Noukhal says:

kennth hill says:

Shoptask Tm says:

Good video except for the bogus lounge act at the beginning.

Fly Lingo says:

Thx Jeff this video saved me! I was able to do this fix in 2 hours part cost $40 but i used my drill and your idea and reused the same part! Again thank you my bad day turned around and it was all because of this vid! Many blessings to you!

Rob Warnett says:

Thanks so much Jeff! Lifesaver!!! You also saved me about $250 which is what my local Dodge dealer wanted to replace the part!

Drae2g2 says:

Which parts store…Dodge dealership or autozone and etc?

Mynameisdaddyful says:

I tried doing this on my 2007 charger and i was able to fix the shifting problem but now my car wont start. my lights work, everything is good but my check engine light is on. it was not on before i fixed the “pink” spring. any suggestions to what might of caused this? please email me directly. any help is appreciated by anyone. soto.gerald.2010@gmail.com

Mohan Sha says:

as for my case, 06 Charger as well, pry off the bottom chrome plastic thingy, then twist the knob. (pretty darn hard to twist for the first time.)

TheLostxxxsoul says:

can you help me do this please? email me at firelovesice@yahoo.com

Ken H says:

thanks for the video. just fyi, Dorman makes an aluminum replacement cam for this shifter thats solvs the problem from ever happening again and you can get it at the parts house for around 35.00, part number is DOR924-706. Great video!!!!

scott erbe says:

68088259AB part number at dealer…..
‘white’ lever,,,replaces ‘pink’………your welcome!!

Justin Killen says:

Just fixed my 07 magnum thanks to this video – thanks Jeff!

hottnicks64 says:

Thanks for this video you saved me allot of money on my 07 charger. Had a hard time with noob on the shifter. I had to take the soberly piece off the noon and un screw the screw that was in place. Than it came off for anybody having problems with that

longbeardsinner says:

My magnum had the same problem……. Called the dodge dealer they said it was a recall part… The new spring only cost me 86 cents…. And the new spring and plastic piece were way Beefier than the pink one I replaced….. Honestly if u go buy a bigger spring instead of making one ur better off

BloodstainedSinner says:

Just because there’s no recall on a tiny plastic piece doesn’t mean that a company is bad as a whole. There are after market ones made of metal (to replace the pink plastic).
