Chrysler Town & Country – Rotted Oil Pan

Chrysler Town & Country – Rotted Oil Pan

Come along as I swap out a rusted out oil pan on a 2006 Chrysler Town and Country with the big 3.3 liter. The money light is also on and that takes a surprising twist that you get to see in part two.

` says:

Seems like also missing the footage before the actual pan change about approving it and reason why as if it was cracked or needs to so it can pass inspection

John Bragg says:

Only seen rusted spark plugs like that in a junk yard. LOL!

Mike Badilla says:

Thanks very help full allways

Ethel Ryan says:

Eric is beyond words the best diagnostician. Hands down.
It also doesn't hurt that he's cute as a button and his very subtle take downs of the armchair mechanics are worth the price of admission, all by themselves.

dannyo66 says:

What did a new pan and gasket cost? My 06 had a patch put in to fix a leak prior to me buying it and I've considered a new pan too.

Dave Marques says:

Just here for any tips or tricks…..Gotta change my oil pan on 2009 Maxima…

Paul Rozinski says:

Not surprised that the oil pan rotted out. My 2013 Jeep GC only got 4 years out of the tranny pan thanks to FCA using “Chinesium” for their parts.

TheShowerSinger says:

I’ve fixed so many of these. I find these gen 4 Chrysler vans on the repo lot or needing valve cover seals and head gaskets for cheap. People don’t generally know how easy head gaskets repairs on the 3.3 and 3.8 are though, so they sell the van for parts, even though the accessory belt doesn’t even have to come off on these for a head gasket job that takes basically an hour or two, max.

Find you on face what??? Lol good one meester 0

Nice vicegrips. Holding the ground strap on?

The Brakleen! It’s back!

Andy Saunders says:

Looking forward to next chapter!

Andy Saunders says:

LUCKY!
4KII Toyota engine – studs always come out, and they have a flange on them, so you're screwed – you have to support the pan, yet it wants to fall off, because all the other nuts are off. And then they snap the timing chain cover at the bottom, which you can't remove first, because of those studs.
Irritating.
Ordinary 4K doesn't seem to have those bastard studs. MOST of the time.
Hate the oilpan hanging of f the timing chain housing.
Still miss the old 4K.

Andy Saunders says:

Engineered by accountants.

Andy Saunders says:

Yup.
RESPECT that Chrysler.
I wish I respected mine.
Might run better.
That oil light is just about deffo a dud sensor – Mine does the same thing – first start, light on. Second start, light out.

Andy Saunders says:

Wicked rust.
Must have been used as a mooring.

V_Roc071 says:

Thanks for the Ignition tip

Ross Brumby says:

In Australia a Chrysler Town & Country is a short lived premium trim model of the Valiant ute. Easily spotted because it was the only ute on the market with a vinyl roof. Early 70's.

Zxborg says:

"Fortunately, the valve cover is leaking right here"… that's a rust belt comment if ever I heard one.

Clearanceman2 says:

Pretty impressive town and country outlasted it's oil pan even in NY. Of course it might be parked in long grass.

Greg K. says:

Hello Eric, did you not think that the o-ring for the pickup tube should have been replaced since you were already there, or do they never go bad ? Thanks, Greg.
