damn!, i thought i was the only one lol, luckily i took the same advice
from a friend who showed me this video. i nearly had a heart attack
wondering how can this be fixed( dealership price $300 or more) i did’nt
have the proper tools to take the whole assembly off but was able to break
the pink piece off with a flat screw driver but you must be careful not to
damage anything else. took me about 20 -30 minutes but was successful.
reminder: the time of course would be way less if you have the proper nut
drivers (tools)

Omg, while waiting for my daughter to exit her school my car did the same
thing yesterday. and as a female I was clueless on what the heck to do. I
decided to search on YT and I stumbled upon your video.. Awesome, the exact
same problem. So I took it apart like you did, and like yours the pink lock
thing was holding the gear in place, hindering it from moving. So after
2hrs I was able to push the pink lock back and the gear finally moved. Made
it home still disassembled, and once I parked it ha

Made it home still disassembled, and once I parked, it happened again. Took
it to mechanic, and it’s a manufacturer defect. It usually cost $600 but
paid half plus military discount due to it being a common manufacture
issues with the 300. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

We got back from vacation and when my wife went to use the car she had this
problem. Called dealershipt and they told me it would cost ~$300 to fix. I
said screw that and bought a metal replacement part (for the pink thingy)
for $35 and now my shifter is like new. Thanks for posting (you and so many
others) as it helped me figure it out and save a ton of cash.

thanks, this has really been very helpful, i’m from manila philippines and
it’s just so time consuming to bring the cars to the dealers, not to
mention a little bit too expensive at times… many thanks.. mabuhay !!!

I had this same thing happen to me on Wednesday and I was stuck in the
parking lot leaving work. I watched a few videos in the parking lot,
finally took a screwdriver and a hammer, and followed this guy’s
instructions. Bingo! It works 100%. I broke off the right side of the pink
plastic catch and everything now works 100% just like he shows in the
video. You still have to hit the brake to shift out of park but the shifter
is no longer stuck. Thanks so much for this! You saved me a bunch of money

Rafael Martinez says:

So u just broke it off???

James Nail says:

just saved my mother $300 and made me the hero of the day lol
