A genuine rust belt mechanic! Heat wrench, penetrating oil, and pry bars.
Nicely done guy… you have more patience than I do. I used to live in
Michigan and had to deal with that exact kind of rusty junk. That’s why I
don’t turn wrenches for a living and why I live in Wyoming now. I do have
to replace my sway bar link on my 2005 Grand Caravan, but I suspect it will
be much easier that what you had to deal with.

XtremeCookiez says:

I did … but OK my sway bar link wasn’t in that bad of condition.

Ryan Ord says:

its pb blaster..try doing it without it

Dude, I’d share a bay with you any day. You got commonsense and a sense of
humor. Both keys to being a successful mechanic. Just a simple flick of the
wrist here, flick, ummm, gimme a minute here.

evilassaultweaponeer says:

Lol that’s exactly what I did to remove a pair of links a couple of months
ago.

XtremeCookiez says:

Great idea, lets spray some oil all over then take out the blow torch…

Studs have 2 flat spots on them for back-up wrench. look at the new ones.
Use loc-tite on reasembly. 20 minute job without power or flame MechVid is
a flat rate tool.

How about cutting the last bolt off with a sawz-all?

hellno50 says:

Sawzall (metal blade) might have been the weapon of choice on that bottom
link bolt! I always believe less is more. Hit that easy button!!!!!!

Eric Smith says:

Its time for a science lesson. when you heat up metal it expands and when
you cool it it contracts… so if you heat up a nut and cool the bolt with
oil it will come off more easy… when the bolt is cool enough that it
dosnt burn the oil then the oil will lube it as well. but you probably did
not know that because you are a alcoholic… you see how i just assume
things… its kinda rude. but you would never say that to his face because
on the internet he cant punch you for getting out of line.

scummy666007 says:

Why loosenut before the heat dude?

davecemdude says:

That cv joint is not long for this world either

MechVids says:

There are many ways to remove the bolt, This video demonstrated the use of
heat, and as a last ditch effort, grinding wheel. Many vehicles in the rust
belt (we’re in ohio) get parts so corroded that the wrench is not always
effective. When this is the case other means of part removal are
implemented. I am thankful for my buddy to take the time to do it the hard
way (at my request) so as to assist anyone whom might be in a scenario
where the traditional wrench is non-effective.
