2011-2023 Chrysler 300/Dodge Charger Oil Filter Housing/Oil Cooler Replacement How-To

This video will show you how to replace the oil filter housing and oil cooler on the 2011-2023 Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger equipped with the 3.6L Pentastar engine. This is a common failure point on these engines the factory plastic housing cracks or starts leaking over time so in this video I installed the upgraded all aluminum housing from Dorman. Parts and products used in this video were purchased from Amazon and Walmart and I have provided links below.

Trump/Dorman 2024!
Thank you so much! I lived in LA for 31 yrs & recently moved to TN. And with that, I had to leave all my car friends in high places. I feel like God dropped you into my life to let me know, I will be just fine in TN. Rolled my sleeves up like the good ole days and got this job done. I love having friends in high places! I do not trust strangers working on any of my challengers. So thank you so very much! ❤
P.s., those two sensors were like Biden & Harris – they really wrecked my serenity so quickly I said, FJB and went to Autozone and just bought two new ones, I also took the new housing w me and had them screw them in for me. Cause why not. Lol

great video but please for the love of god next time speficy the difference between inch pounds and foot pounds i just sheered a bolt on my new oil housing because im stupid and didnt hear you say INCH pounds and set my wrench to 106 ft lbs im so sad right now i also stripped one of the heads on the e8 bolts cuz the torque was so high and have no idea how i am going to remove that bolt so i can get the new assembly off and even SEE what the damage is from the sheered bolt thankfully it looks the the bolt broke pretty high up so i should be able to use some vice grips and unscrew it HOPEFULLY im just so bent outta shape and deprressed right now this is my only car so now i have no idea how im going to get what i need to get this stripped bolt head out

How much do shops usually charge for a replacement

@correfe says:

can you use teflon tape instead of sealent?

@robthompson343 says:

Excellent, thank you!

@Islam3love says:

Tell me now 8 months you get any problems?

@Cowboy340 says:

Follow up question and concern
I had a shop replace the oil filter housing last week, car ran fine for 30 miles, my wife parked the car, next day it wouldn’t start, turned over, never started. Heavy fuel odors. Any ideas? Thanks

@dcavalli9 says:

I drained the radiator, but some left over coolant keeps coming up from the holes at the bottom of the engine bay and spilling over. It's not a flood like it was before, but more of an annoyance.

Is this normal?

Should I just soak up the coolant in the holes and then install the new oil filter housing?

@Cowboy340 says:

Very comprehensive, great camera and audio as well. How much shop time is expected for these combined functions?

@Cowboy340 says:

Outstanding. Thank you. Are you satisfied with the Dorman unit overall?

@Cowboy340 says:

Do you have the Amazon item code number for the SKP Rock Auto oil filter housing and cooler? Thanks

@dkmoreno3 says:

I definitely over torqued a bolt on the housing unit and idk if I stripped it but we will see I hope I don’t leak

@Jerryriggedphantom says:

Now I have a check engine light lol

@ranchotresmarielas5582 says:

Can that oil go dripping all the way down to the engine where the transmission is located ?

@mcm95403 says:

Thanks, this answered my question about coolant getting into the oil. I'll have to do this in my angled driveway, so I think that should be ok. I didn't realize the Dorman is made in USA, that's nice.

What brand of tourqe wrench are you using?
