great video ! !
big job to do uh I have an 01 and light or foggie to what will be the cost
of the replaing llight
NOT an easy job in the real world…. the studs from the front fenders that
have the nuts tend to rust, and the studs are pressed into a metal holder.
The stud lets go from the holder far easier than the nuts will turn. I
could not remove any of the four and had to pull out the old assembly and
push in the new without removing the bumper assembly. It can be done, but
this is not for the amateur. My PT is a 2004 with the original front bumper
which had never been removed. Guess 9 years age did it
@mikkathug07 This is minor compared to problems I’ve had with the PT. I’ll
never buy another Chrysler product of any kind again.
Will these be the same steps for a 2006? It looks like it would be. Thank
you
Thanks for the reply. On the old set of headlights you have there, what
makes them go so foggy? My headlights are exactly like that.
@chitownchill We only carry stock style replacements, if your headlights
are yellowed, you will be amazed at how much brighter they become once you
replace the lens itself, you probably won’t even need brighter bulbs.
Thanks!
Thanks so much for posting this. I recently purchased new headlights for my
’06 PT Cruiser and I’m glad I saw this first to know what’s involved before
I got started.
you need to show how to replace the driverside, it is more difficult, and
also the computer is on the driverside, weired place for it, but yea i see
why yo dont show how to do the other lol
and I have to say these are one of the worst cars to work on. I’d love to
smack the designers for what they did.
Can it be possible to remove the headlight without taking the bumper?
Mine has two phillips screws underneath the light, ffom the front. simple
to do
que alguien le diga en ingles a este pendejo que los focos se pulen y
quedan como nuevos para que no gaste dinero a lo pendejo
It actually is a 2005. This style of the PT-Cruiser was the same until the
2006 styling update, so the headlight instructions will work up to 2005
models.
I noticed yours didn’t have the two pops on either side of the grill..well
between the grill and the head lights. Or if it did, did you have to remove
the pops, or does the bumper cover slide out of there (IE notched in that
area, not holes)? Also, you’re lucky.. the 10mm’s at the top edges of the
bumper cover.. where it and the fender meet, all decided to just spin the
whole bolt/stud/whatever you’d call it.. so now I have to find a solution
for that. I’m with others. I did the timing belt
HA HA HA! Nailed it!
I bought some 9006XV headlamps today and noticed that the stock headlamp
bulbs have a straight base(9006xs) and the 9006XV has a right angled base.
How do I take the bulb out of the 9006XV and put it into the stock base
without damaging the bulb or base?
I want to buy a PT cruiser.
You don’t have to remove the grill or the bumper to replace the headlights!
You’re doing WAAAY to much work. Just remove the liner from the wheel well,
and the two bolts on the very edge of the bumper – then you have full
access to the backside of the headlight and it slips in from the front.
@GeneralCracka The plastic used on those original headlights was not UV
resistant, and over time, the UV Radiation from the sun causes the plastic
to break-down and turn yellow like that.
So helpful!!! Thank you so much.
that was no 05 its an 04 gets your facts straight
@mrbigsingsblues Glad we were able to help 🙂
that is just crazy…some stupid french man designed this car
Do not attempt this if your PT has been in the winter road salt. On my
2002 PT the 2 fender nuts on each side were rusted so that when I turned
them they would just spin having broke loose on the inside. The “bolts” are
basically spot welded and you can not access them if this occurs making it
impossible to remove your headlights without major surgery. I had to cut
the nuts off with a dremel and they are very hard to get to with a tool
like this. I got it done but it took me 4 hours.
