I found my tubing flare thing worked the best in a vise. Mine is a Snapon
unit and have had it for well over 30 years. The cheaper ones, like come
off the rack in the parts store may not be as strong as the Snapon unit.

I had to use one of them flaring tools on the side of the road….. in the
snow LOL. Fuel pump in that blazer was a little noisy to me
