@WarMachineWW2 Should be a little metal disk bolted or riveted to it
somewhere on the rear side and it will say which one it is. Did you try the
engage it and did it work? Don’t know much about transfer cases but there
are a few vids on here about rebuilding them.

Danie Foflyge says:

My K10 has frame cancer. Any ideas on what I could do? None of the junk
yards near me have anything worth salvaging.

Brian Lewis says:

god i wish i had a lift, im doing this in my fucking driveway

CatfishingChris says:

for removing the tcase,do you just remove the tcase cover and loosen the 4
bolts on the rear of the transmission and it just slides off?

chevydiesel350015 says:

yeah wished i had a lift to lol

Randall Decker says:

Great video, really makes me wish I had a lift.

WarMachineWW2 says:

I have a ’86 chevy scottsdale 3/4 ton 4×4 and the transfer case is bad. I’m
16 and I bought it for 800$ and the things nice and all I just wish I had
4wd. How do I check what kind of t case it has, and how do I know if it’s
bad enough to replace? I had to replace the heads because oil was getting
everywhere and it’s just a mess so I can’t tell what kind of t case it’s
having. I’m thinking it’s a 205. Not sure though, all I need to know is how
to check if it’s bad and what I should do with it.

Paul Govensky says:

Did you get anywhere with your transfer case yet? I have a 88 chevy 4×4 and
my housing was cracked. I purchased one through Monster Transmission. It
was very easy to install once you make sure you have enough chest strength.
It took me twice because the linkage was on the wrong side. Right now I am
probably going to just purchase a new one from monster with all my specs
and see if this hard shifting stops

WarMachineWW2 says:

@Oldsmob455 The engage doesn’t work at all. The hubs lock in but when I
shift it into 4wd the light comes on, but I don’t get any power tot he
front.

Danie Foflyge says:

I have an 80 k10. Why did no one tell me this before. Now I feel like a
dumb ass

ArkansasMudder725 says:

been there done that. i would not recomend tha 700r4 trans for 4×4 they are
junk to me they dont hold up long. so ive always used tha 350 turbo trans
much better fer me, and tha np208 tcase weakspot is tha tail of it were tha
rear driveshaft goes in,ive had 5 break on me in tha same area, but i still
use them, nice vid btw keep it up

Oldsmob455 says:

@WarMachineWW2 If the linkage is working correctly it sounds like a issue.
Like I said, I really don’t know much about transfer cases.

gmjunky87 says:

that’s only to disengage automatic locking hubs. I’ve had a few k series
trucks, I have never had to do this to engage 4wd. I think you’re thinking
of older 70’s picks/suburbans with np203’s.

WarMachineWW2 says:

@Oldsmob455 The engage doesn’t work. I locked the hubs and tried but it
just wouldn’t.

Oldsmob455 says:

@CatfishingChris After those four bolts are off(and the rest of the
attached stuff) the transfer case and mount will just slide rewards and off
the splines of the trans.

Oldsmob455 says:

Find a western doner truck. Frames are supposed to flex and welding them is
not a good idea.

Danie Foflyge says:

I don’t know if you are aware of this but once you shift into 4 wheel drive
you have to drive backwards about 10 feet for it to fully ingage

gmjunky87 says:

not sure what transfer case you have or if you have manual or automatic
hubs. I had an 87 k10 with an np208 and automatic hubs. things were a
little worn out and would bang when engaging haha.
