CHIBA280CRV says:

Nice work Mark! And a shout out to Donyboy , hope you fixed your problem.

LeakyDiaper says:

Nice, but now solve it without the 10 thousand dollar scanner.

nobleheight says:

@Wellstech Does Inspector Tech have any relation to Sergeant Tech?

donyboy73 says:

thanks Mark, i have replaced the cam sensor and I just received the crank
sensor to put in, i will let you know in about a month if it acts up again

rjh1217 says:

Excellent diagnostic detective work!

Wells VE says:

Your vehicle has a different AIR system than the one in the video. If you
are getting trouble codes P0171 and P0174 chances are you have either
leaking manifold gaskets or a defective MAF sensor. If you would like a
diagram of your AIR system I will need to send it to your e-mail address.
You can leave me a message on my channel with your address. Hope this
helps, please let me know if you need any further information. Mark Hicks

Wells VE says:

@rjh1217 Thank you for the kind words. But, Inspector Tech is the real hero
here! Take Care, Mark Hicks Wells Vehicle Electronics

nobleheight says:

Wow! This issue definitely deserves it’s own Technical Service Bulletin.

Wells VE says:

It is common for the crank and cam sensors to cause an intermittent stall
on your vehicle. Don’t know if you have replaced them yet. It is not real
common but it does happen on your vehicle where a cracked flywheel will
cause the same problems. Stay in touch, let me know what you find. Mark

@LeakyDiaper Honestly, I like to use everyday tools, but in this case there
was no way to do it without a good scan tool. Mark Hicks Wells vehicle

i do smal engine diagnosis’, lol, check out my channel and if you want to
be featured in my “other channels section” and vice versa let me know

nobleheight says:

In my opinion, this issue deserves it’s own DTC. I believe it might be
possible to implement a test for a malfunctioning air solenoid valve
without modifying any hardware, but with only a change in the PCM’s
programming.

Wells VE says:

@nobleheight It is an intertwined story going back to early biblical times.
Unfortunately it is too long for the 400 remaining characters in this chat
box. The skinny answer is “yes”. In fact they are twins, but only two of a
set of four. Yes, their poor mother suffered through a quintuplet birth. In
future episodes we will be introducing you to the rest of the remaining
family. Stay tuned! Mark Hicks Wells Vehicle Electronics

nobleheight says:

Isn’t secondary air injected into the exhaust downstream of the primary
oxygen sensor?

Wells VE says:

@nobleheight Remember, there is a pressure sensor in the solenoid we
mention in the video. It is there to check hose integrity. I thought it was
funny that a code did not set for it. It is possible in later models it
will, but it didn’t happen with this one. Mark Hicks Wells Vehicle

donyboy73 says:

awesome diagnosis

soogoofoo3 says:

my truck sounds like it acts about the same as this one. does the chevy
silverado 2000 5.3l have the same air control solenoid valve? if so can you
give me a link to the location on the engine? tia Eric

donyboy73 says:

my o6 sebring, 2.4 litre, will sometimes stall on a warm startup, but
sporadically. i have replaced a slew of sensors to no avail

Wells VE says:

I just sent you the information via your e-mail address. Hope this helps,
let me know either way. Mark Hicks Wells Vehicle ELectronics
