Nice job
cutting is smarter than heating to failure. cutting is a common practice and as long as you stay within 1 or 2 coils its no big deal.
good job walk.
SOME people think they know EVERYTHING !! According to EATON SPRING CO OF DETROIT one of the MAJOR spring mfg’s who say THESE are the type of springs that CAN BE SAFELY CUT !! this site wont allow the placement of links in comments, search it and you will see these are safe to cut !!!
GREAT Video 00walk thanks for the great how to !!!
How stupid your ruining that truck not only the look of it but the ride of it!!! Dumbass
fucking moron cutting springs, buy lowering springs.
haha.
You need a plasma cutter
Cutting coils from the springs is the single MOST STUPID thing you can do!!! Drop the truck with dropped spindles, lowered control arms, or with springs that manufactured to be lowered. This jerk is asking for nothing but trouble!!!
how much lower did it make it ?
Nice, truck man!
Awesome Instructional video.I thought for sure it was gonna be more of a PITA than this.Heck I bought Spring Compressors because I thought for sure that the stock spring was gonna be in a bind.I guess not.I Learn something everyday.
Did you measure the ground to fenders on front and back before starting and after. What was final drop on front and rear with axle flip? Looks like this was latest video you posted on lowering. What do you have lowering front with the flip. And is it flipped with lowering shackles? thanks, good fast video, got to invest in a cheap grinder, cut off saw though!
love it … could have been more brave cutting two extra coils 😛 but its personal…. still amazing !!!
@noble_prince
No I didn’t, just had a shorter spring rate.
good shit bro! do u get that bounce in the front?
hey man someone welded something in the frame in the back on my 89 silverado to lower it..is there any way i can higher it back up a little?
Hey thanks man. Dropped my truck just how you said and I love it
If anything cut one coil and get 2 inch drop spindles
Nicely done… I just bought the rear flip kit from bell tech for my 83 C10, but it will drop the rear 8 inches with the shackles. My question is, should I cut 2 coils giving me 4 inches off front? or should I maybe go 3 coils?
You do what the fuck you want when it’s yours scooter. I’ll cut the roof of that bitch if I want to! I got lowering Springs in it now though 🙂
U never cut springs. That’s fuckin retarded. Buy drop spindles
i lowered my 4wd s10 it scrapes on speed bumps an i can still drive it in the winter thats lowriden at its finest
Lowered mine cut front springs 2 inches flipped leaf springs from top to bottom using the leaf spring perches without welding had a nasty ride. I tried the dremel damn i broke 4 discs so went ahead and use a grinder 15 sec. to cut. Changed ball joints too. Once i cut the bump stops in half all around nice smooth ride now. Thanks 00walk for the vid
@MrSoccerluvr4 i cut the top of spring.
This video helped me out, i’m hopefully going to cut my springs next week on my Mustang… I know this is probably a stupid question, but do you cut the bottom or the top of the springs?
is that a 4×4 im guessing its a 2wd though because your lowering it
@GangreenMachine what are you taking about, that’s about as small as it gets!
nice video/truck. with the rear i would have pulled a leaf spring or two and threw a lowering block in there, to each is own tho, nice truck again man
Hahahahahaha why didn’t you pick the small cutting wheel??? Haha
really need to kno imma do it to my car
you cut one coil equal 2 inchs drop
@SheepandWo1f Yea its a single cab and thanks man!
Nice truck. I normally don’t like trucks, especially single cab(not sure if that’s what it’s called), but that looks great.
Thanks Bro helped Out a lot! I Just lowered My 65 Chevy Truck
verry good video
OEM steel was not designed to handle the higher stresses associated with removing coils, so there is always the possibility of failure. That’s why springs have a certain load rate.
Won’t weaken the spring, it makes the ride stiffer and harder, but the spring itself is in the same strength as it was. I personally am buying 6 inch drop springs, but you can cut coils as long as you don’t overdo it
Coil springs are preloaded from the factory for a specific ride quality. Sectioning them is not a good move (stupid ricers) and can give you a lousy hard ride. Removing sections can also weaken the spring leading to eventual failure. If you are going through the trouble of replacing springs why not do it right. There are plenty of aftermarket companies that reverse engineer springs assemblies to give you proper load rate ride quality and caster camber kits to correct alignment. Don’t be a hack!
still getow but at leesed he is not just heeting them up lol
Nice cheap install funny lil tool but this helped lol that is the smallest tool ever
usin that small ass dremel
