Gotta thank you for this post. I have an 02 Avalanche and I kept on
breaking the tips off of my RCA patch cables and couldn’t figure out why.
Now I know that the brittle plastic shelf has to be eliminated. Ever since
I did that its been smooth sailing. Thanks so much!

sorry not to say all radio places do it this way but a bucket or even a
cheap 10 aftermarket 03 double din kit would be better than 2 bend pieces
of metal but if these guys take 3 times to put in a screw in the same spot
what can you expect. I am a construction worker and i could fine better
solutions than this jimmie rig stereo install

i am assuming a 03-06 radio cage and dash bezel was to mainstream?
I installed a kenwood double din in my ’01 sierra in under 45 minutes using
an ’03 radio cage and dash bezel :)

Harrison Edgar says:

You could have bought the clips online for 10.00. I bought mine for my 99
Chevy Silverado and it was so much easier installing the speakers.

I will not be using any of the bose system but still want the onstar to
work properly.

Never use electrical tape use heat sink raps.

Craig Smith says:

Great instructions and video right up to the redneck mount for the radio. I
have a 2002 Avalanche and found a retrofit radio bucket online worked
perfect. I also considered a 2003 radio bucket and dash bezel from a
junkyard but the retrofit kit was the easiest solution. I would never put
in a radio like this that I cared about.

EirikHalle says:

This video will help me out a lot! Perfect! Thank you! But I wonder where
can I buy that usb/aux adapter that was installed in the dash!? 🙂

Maurell Brown says:

Love the installation..gave me a better understanding of how to get it
done. .

Craig Smith says:

Sorry JJ find’t realize the customer asked for that type of install. like I
said great work but some customers want fast over doing it “right”.
Excellent work by you guys, two thumbs up. I wish I saw this before my jib,
it would have helped but I figured it out. keep up the excellent videos.

Luis Barrera says:

Do you know the model number of the stereo?

Cadettmahoney says:

Great install. Good explanations

joshster89 says:

How much did this custom install cost? It looks pretty good for an
application that required a lot of extra room to be made.
