The clip that holds lever attached to door handle is different and much shorter in my 2012 Tahoe. I just had to remove the lever from the handle and somehow managed to push it in the new handle. The clip wouldn’t open. If i could upload the image i would to show what i exactly mean. Also 2012 Tahoe also has just 2 x 10mm screws.

CNorman says:

I just followed this exactly and everything worked. An hour later, both inside and outside door handles will not open the door (unlocked). Any ideas?

Wildhog32 says:

Are you replacing the exterior door handle with a plastic or metal handle. If metal how much is it for a 2012 GMC Sierra 1500 Crew cab for the left rear door?

Jim O'Brien says:

Excellent video. Side note: 2007 Yukon Denali only has 2 10mm bolts that must be removed to remove the door panel.

Great videos, I just got all four I ordered thru your website but haven't installed them yet. I had one rear door failure that was covered by warranty, the other rear and the replaced one both failed after warranty ran out. Now the right front actually broke (outside handle). I have a 2012 Silverado with under 29k miles and now have had four handle failures, the only original one is the front driver's, the one that gets 99% of use. Needless to say, I think Chevy should address this issue, using crappy plastic parts that can no way stand up. Anyway, was real glad to find your website and useful videos. Hope the replacements go as well as in your videos. Nice to be able to view the problem and see the steps in removing/replacing door panels. Thanks guys.

Elizabeth Brown says:

Thank you! We had to fix the door handle, put it back into its socket but we had to take the panel off and apart to get to it. This helped so much and it’s fixed! Thank you so so so much lol.

My rod clip doesn't look like the one in the video. Can't figure out how to un clip it. Help!!

Stephanie Daniels says:

This was very helpful. I followed the steps and did 3 of my doors myself. Thank you for this video, because people were trying to charge me $120-$180 just to install one door handle. I truly appreciate the help.

Payton Gregory says:

I just replaced this yesterday. Before putting everything back together I tested to make sure the door would open and it did. But once everything was put back together the door will not open from the inside or the outside. Any ideas?
