I have a 08 malibu ltz. it is the last chevy i will ever own. engineered by complete retards.
That’s what I JUST said -___-
leave it to Chevy to not leave some sort of easier access to something so simple as a fucking headlight bulb.
ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME??
thanks man. will be doing this tomorrow just to REPLACE A DAMN BULB. Thanks for the guide.
Very useful vid. Thanks man!and fuck you chevy!
GM will probably design a future generation so you’ll have to do something even more ridiculous like lift the engine to replace a headlight or headlamp assembly.
what size volt drill did you use? and what other pieces on the drill do you use to extend to the bolt located near the wheel well?
Muito bom o video Parabens! Me ajudou bastante. Obrigado !
Thanks for the video! I just used it to change my low beam bulb…very usefull!
Chevy should know that a Malibu is a working people’s car and we are going to do our own maintenance. Headlights should be a simple screw in type process. They purposely made this a real bitch to do so they make more money in service. The first time I did it, we spent a few hours figuring it out. This video I checked out today before jumping in with my friend. We did have the experience from before, but this video really helped. Great stuff. Thank you.
Dam that’s alot of wrk, but it’s worth it, thanx!!
what year is this malibu?
Nice job. The procedure you demonstrated is described in the Haynes Repair Manual for 2004 – 2010. As the say, one picture is worth a 1000 words. Like many who have commented, it is madness to expect to have to remove the bumper fascia and bumper cover just to R&R a lamp, not to mention some front wheel-well liner fasteners to access the assy. Progress? Better vehicles? Probably. User-friendly? Nope. Would only suggest leaving protective film on assy unitl it is installed to protect lens cover.
no it’s not this is how you take the headlight out we worked on one today and couldn’t find the second bolt because we didn’t take the bumper cover loose around the grill.. it’s some bullshit
I just took my lunch at 2:30 pm its 5:00pm god danmit!!!!
thanks for the video it really help a lot
just one screw and one tab and the headlight will pop right out, unplug the old one and plug the new replacement in, same process as changing the bulb. why did you have to do all this other bullshit then?
Thanks for the video, im about to install my hid kit now I know how to take it down. Mad ups homie!
man my headlight just went out but i didn’t see this video…we couldn’t get to the headlight! OMG! but now i see…thanks!
dear god. what year model is this specific car? my mom has an ’09 and its nowhere hear this bad. I’ve watched it be done once, but its been quite a while ago, so i decided to youtube it and this is the first vid for me to watch. trust me yall, this is probably a worst case scenario.
I Didnt buy a malibu just because of this..
Thanks so much! that video really helped me…..
Helped a lot THANKS!
Obviously it works, did you not just watch him do it in the video?? “It’s hard to come off” So, it is working?? I can’t paint but I don’t think it is the paint brush’s fault, just saying…
That is some poor engineering by Chevy and unfortunately I got one. Whoever designed these models of Malibu deserves a swift kick to the nards.
My old MB didn’t require any tools to replace the headlamps or any light for that matter. The headlight/taillights assemblies were held in place by one simple plastic lug I could easily unscrew by hand from inside the trunk or engine compartment. Just unscrew lug, slide out, replace bulbs, slide back, replace lug. That is engineering, my friends.
Dosnt work!!!! Trying it now and its hard to come off!
Some bull right? straight bull!
Alright i did all that you did in this video and I have a 2009 chevy malibu lt and the front bumber stil wont come off. I pulled it back enough to take out the headlight bolt but is that all that is holding that headlight in place? because i feel like there is more to this than the video is showing.
hiii! i need your help!!!! lol what kind of tools did you use ?!
So it took like 30 mins to do?
There should be a law against making a simple job so complex. They know most people will bring it to the dealer and I bet that is $100 to replace one bulb.
It’s a very in-depth process. Thanks for sharing your how-to video. Is it me or has anyone else noticed and extreme amount of cars and trucks suddenly having only one headlight. I used to only see 2 or three a week. Just a few days ago, I have had over 25 one-headlight cars and trucks go by me on the highway. Spooky stuff.
P.S. Who would have thought that you would have to take the body apart to replace a headlamp bulb. Shame on the engineer(s) who made changing a headlight bulb so complicated!
Thank you ever so much for your generosity in posting this!
Thanks for posting. You saved my ass.
tell me about it lol
i cant believe this bullshit! manufacturer is fucking with us or what. this is retarted, all this fucking shit you gotta do!!!

Heyy Thanks for the vid… But Hey Question… Have u had an issue with Dislocationg the left upper fascia connected to the upper fender.. Are they attached by screws or do you just have to pull up on it?
