How To Replace AC Condenser (1994-2000 Chevrolet C/K 1500 Suburban Tahoe Yukon)

showing you guys the process of replacing an AC Condenser on this Chevrolet C/K 1500. This process is the same when working on the Suburban, Tahoe, and Yukon. This condenser was introduced in 1994 and was used until 2000 in many of these Chevy trucks. However, the process is pretty much the same across the OBS Chevy bodystyle (1988-1998).

* In the video we forgot the clip showing the transfer of the orifice tube! The orifice tube is located on the angled line on the condenser.***

So there is no need to "close" off the ac lines? I don't want to lose anything. Thanks! Good video

James Smith says:

Now would be the perfect time to change the receiver/dryer (super cheap on rock auto), Schrader valves, and o-rings. I upgraded the orfice tube with a high climate above 105° F since I live in the desert. Since my high side access port does not have a removable Schrader valve i replaced it with a Dorman valve that did have a removable Schrader valve (they are prone to leaking and later you do not have to recover the refrigerant for repair if you have the Schrader valve tool).

Israel Diaz says:

Can I use 2 wreches to remove the hose from the firewall it broke since I could it remove it from the condensor but am changing hose line and condensor since both broke

Ron Brothers says:

John Ford says:

I cross threaded the bottom fitting and it leaked. Is there a cheap way i can hack something together like a compression fitting?

kcrailroader says:

You didn't mention transferring (and cleaning) the orriface from the old condenser to the new one. It is located inside the angled tube in the condenser.

Seth Moser says:

Do you have to drain all the freon out?

mike83 says:

there is also one behind the blinkers on each side

Firstname Lastname says:

Is the orifice tube in the condenser, or is it somewhere else in this vehicle?

Gregory Smith says:
