robert johnson says:

There are two adjustments on those gear boxes.

.mlh says:

is this the same or similar to the process for a ’96 Silverado 1500?

Roberto Gonzalez says:

surprise revile at the end! but good vid;)

25nakeddog says:

nice video i had to change mine out on my dodge four wheel drive it was a
lil better but still had a few moments of throwing things and curseing it
lol

IAMDAVEAMI says:

oi i have a 2000 blazer and my shaft doesnt move like yours WTF hahah and i
am trying to do head work haha so i got most of it but need that shaft out
my doesnt move up and down eh the end 🙂

Megan Huddleston says:

This video is awesome. And hilarious. Thank you!

QuantumRift says:

If you want to LOOK at least halfway-professional and want people to watch,
then ditch the head banging music. It adds NOTHING to the video and is a
distraction. BETTER LIGHTING IS A MUST.

63lesabre says:

@chevrolet0388 The best thing to do is with the vehicle in the air, yank on
the center link and check for play. You’ll be able to see exactly where
it’s bending at. Your idler arm will be more prone to failing than the
pitman arm for some odd reason.

Damien Nicholas says:

@bounthisanej hey, do you know if i can use a gearbox from a chevy extreme?
I have a 3/4 drop on my LS.

Samuel Bowers says:

I am not trolling here. Most of these videos are useless because of the
stupid music in the background & not enough lighting to see what the
mechanic is doing. If you people are gonna go to the trouble to do these
videos then get rid of the music & provide more lighting.

Alex7naomi says:

r u kidding me !! you didn’t tell us how hard it was going to be to take
off that last bolt !! but my husband and I got it off ….and that stupid
pit arm thingy hu ! …. but I loved your video too funny you might have
been ther 4/5hours I we where ther two days..lol

colddogsoup1 says:

rent a pitman arm puller

lifeinhd says:

I just pulled a gearbox off at the junkyard yesterday, the hardest part was
separating the pitman arm from the steering linkage. In fact I couldn’t
separate them and ended up cutting the linkage. Obviously this won’t work
for reinstallation on my truck, so any tips on how to separate them?

Jessica Jackson says:

Don’t use an open end wrench on your lines use a line wrench. You can crush
your power steering lines tard.

63lesabre says:

@tippman2k01 You probably could, but it’s going to take more work.

Alan Bowman says:

scary as hell 2 drive in the rain or snow. wish me luck. hope i dont break
any power steering lines on knuckes lol. i let u know how it goes.

Alan Bowman says:

love the video and the music in the background i could hear u just fine.
but ya bout to do this on my 03 blazer that is terrifing

agent008chico says:

Did you consider using one of the repair kits instead of replacing the gear
box. They are usually less than $20.00 and comes with all the rings,
gaskets and internal seals for repairing the item. It beats the hell out of
buying a new one or using and used one that might not be in optimum
condition.

63lesabre says:

@TheAkhilesBoy Thanks man. I appreciate comments like this.

blazinloud says:

sweet video man, thats a very common problem on these things. so the play
was caused by the gearbox and not the steering shaft at all?

thousandtreesartstud says:

not a bad video. informative, intelligently narrated. viewer tip: turn your
radio down so you won’t have to yell next time.

samfischer111 says:

hey man where at do you live? cause i heard the banana on the background.
and just looking for some reference for a steering box fix on my ram thanks

thousandtreesartstud says:

@isthisreal1991 …the isuzu hombre and the s10 are bolt-for-bolt
identical, except for cosmetics, grille, and a few stickers. the 2.2 motor
in the s10 is designed and assembled by isuzu anyway, so if you have an
s10, it’s a more formally attired hombre wearing a bowtie. no difference.
mazda motors are in ford rangers too. the more parts two vehicles can
share, the cheaper they can sell and fix ’em.

aron jaydee says:

is this the same with a 98 isuzu hombre 2.2

ILikeITblown says:

Youtube and professionalism, ya those go directly together lol. Give the
kid credit for at least showing the basic steps to do the job. He’s done
more than your useless comment.

63lesabre says:

@chevrolet0388 It could be an issue with the gearbox, but a misaligned or
bent center link or improper caster can cause this to happen.

D Souf says:

this is the same for my 96 blazer ur the man bruh

63lesabre says:

@blazinloud That’s right! You could move the steering wheel a good 5 inches
and not get steering response. The gears on the inside just wear away. My
advice would be to keep the power steering fluid changed frequently, and
NEVER TOUCH THE ADJUSTMENT NUT.

mark heasley says:

Great Job. I loved the background music. Made it real.

D Souf says:

did u need a seal kit to install the new steering gear box

63lesabre says:

@tippman2k01 I guess you could put it up on a ramp, but it will be much
harder if you ever need to move the wheels around. Also, to remove a pitman
arm, you gotta get a pitman arm separator tool.

VAAv8or says:

1:35 Aww are you fuckin’ kiddin’ me I LOLed so hard… I can’t do a damn
thing involving tools without saying some variation of this XD But thanks
for the great video, may have to do this on my S10 soon, hoping the
adjustment will help but if not I know what’s up now. Thumbs up and thanks
man!

akondick says:

I have my 1997 chevrolet s10, and i got the same problem with the steering
gear , do i have to bleed the power steering system, after doing that ?

Kartoon313 says:

Good job bro n keep the music this helps w the headache of workin on cars.
I suggest installing the pitman arm seal on any used steering box. Cost
under five $ n that’s worth the whining sound from always being low on
fluid. Thank

Leafy Greens says:

Thanks for the info, music was distracting, but overall good video.

Fmiguelify says:

Do u know what is the diferrence between a steering gearbox and a steering
gear. im confused man can u help?

yazied hosni says:

this is pain without air impact tools,,, been there , done that

Damien Nicholas says:

thank you for the video buddie. Ive been debating wether or not to replace
my entire tie rod assembly because i can turn my wheel almost a half turn
before the wheels turn. They show signs of wear, but now I believe it is
indeed just the steering box. Thanks again man.

Samuel Bowers says:

If you people are gonna make these videos then use better lighting under
the hood, or under the car or any dark area.

tippman2k01 says:

@63lesabre i can use a pickle fork to separate the pitman arm right? thank
you

sb1707b says:

Yes, awesome. Thanks for posting, gives me confidence to tackle this on my
Tahoe.

Samuel Bowers says:

Will you people turn off the stupid music.

tippman2k01 says:

nice video. i just have 2 questions…do u have to raise and support the
front end of the car, or will ramps do fine? and what do i use to separate
the pitman arm from the gear box? thanks
