fyi. taking the tank out is the hardest part, putting it back in is much easier. would suggest dont even try taking the tank out with a lot of gas in it. one gallon of gas is 6 pounds so it adds up and makes it much more difficult to move things around to get access.

moof2 says:

i wish i had squeeze disconnects from the high pressure fuel lines like yours, i had the internal clip ones and needed the special tool for each one. that’s no biggie its a cheap tool but you have to be verrry careful when you pull the gas line away from the pump line because it will break. thats not a big deal because you are putting in a new unit anyway but it’s tricky getting the broken part out of the fuel line without messing up the locking collar. so try not to break it.

DuruConsigliere says:

Might add that when installing you need to add Vaseline to the rubber grommet that’s connected to the fuel pump unit. That way you don’t rip it during installation. Video is excellent bud and the verbal directions were spot on. Great Video!

Shawn Czerwinski says:

Great video. Man, your truck is so clean underneath! Mine is rusty as hell living in Wisconsin…

Ivo G says:

Just drop the tank on my 06 tahoe. Thank for the vid.!

DCM M says:

That reply is for the idiot MrMsossamon.

DCM M says:

1) The only boy here is you. 2) I don’t see any of your videos with 50,000 views…oh that’s right you don’t have any. 3) Your not as good as you think you are. Good video, this is not Vimeo it’s not meant to be a documentary film on replacing a fuel pump…it’s too the point and easily understood.

snowpro90 says:

Well it was easier than i thought. It took more time to get the gas out of the tank than the install of pump and tank. Thanks again friend.

John Doe says:

I’m glad that I can help you save time and money.

John Doe says:

909-724-4397 google the phone number to get the address. They sale fuel pumps on ebay also.

beetle382 says:

Just changed my pump last night, and i wish I would have seen this video first, had a hell of a time disconnecting lines from pump. Should have looke for the other connection. My pump was $230. Where did you buy yours from?

snowpro90 says:

Thanks for the help Bud! Im still not looking forward to this. But this helps.

barry choate says:

replaced many pumps I got on here just to see if gm did like chrysler and put in a access hole oh well thanks though looks like I will be dropping it.

progressiveboy916 says:

Great video man – saved me TONS of time…. I have the Chilton manual for my ’01 Tahoe and might as well use it for kindling. Removal of the fuel lines at the front makes WAYYYY more sense than dealing with those quick disconnects on top. I ended up breaking the EVAP quick disconnect line, and WARNING to all those dealing with this – GM has discontinued producing this line set, and most dismantlers cut this line, so hard to find one. Be careful with the lines – they can’t be replaced.

i removed the plate under the rear seat and lifted the module out in 8 minutes…AND THEN I WOKE UP LOL

MarkAnsas says:

you need to rehearse your lines boy and know what types of tools you are using its called a 12 point socket and learn how to use a camera

alfonso1740 says:

…Marking them, that way youll know, which goes where.:) another tip…if buying the whole module,it just better to spend a couple of more bucks on a better quality.than to having to do this all over again within the yr. I got Delphi,GM uses them for a reason. Iv only noticed a few been returned to my wrkplace,so its a good sign. Hope this helps the rest of the viewers. again,,a million thanx. PEACE¡!!!

alfonso1740 says:

Thanx for the video bro….i sure am glad i found it. My 01 tahoe FPS was giving me trouble.i was going to drop the tank so i decided to might as well replace the whole fuel module(pump). Good thing i work @ an automotive warehouse so i got a great deal on it. and did the job with the help of a friend nd my bro.ended up spending less than a bill!!.and thats only because i also bought a tool box. had a little trouble reconnecting the two fuel lines back into the trucks.but it helps marking them.

i have a 2001 tahoe, it started messing up on me. sometimes in the morning it wont start, the ignition works but it won’t start. when it started doing this i would wait about 15 min. and it would start like nothing’s wrong with it. now is getting worst and it won’t start till the end of the day. is weird because no check engine light will light on the dash. i took it to a shop and they didn’t find anything on it, can anybody give me any seggestions, i would really appreciate that. thankyou !

Nice video.

I’m having a problem with my Yukon XL Denali, which I’m sure it is the fuel pump.

Dropped the vehicle off at a local auto repair an really afraid of the cost of this repair.

If your willing to help with this repair, please contact me through email rodnchar@gmail.com

Dude you are the man. I’m working on my Tahoe now and I needed this. I can go into this knowing what tools I’m going to need before I get to that oh crap moment.

granados1987 says:

nice home video! that piece that you broke off is a fuel tank vapor pressure sensor, which happens to be bad on my tahoe lol. thanks for the video, now i know how drop the tank and get to that damn sensor.

coolj504 says:

C mon man you know we appreciate the time you taking to show people how save a lot of money I’m thinking you all the way to the bank

John Doe says:

Anytime!!!! Times are hard and getting worse. We all need to get dirty sometime to save money. Why pay others when you can pay yourself $300 a day to do the job.

John Doe says:

909-724-4397 google the phone number to get the address. They sale fuel pumps on ebay also. 50 something for just a pump and about 110 for the whole pump assembly . Tell them a guy on youtube is promoting them so maybe I’ll get a discount

nedaCFilms / Mustang-Town says:

tou need a special fuel line removal tool… its tiny.

nedaCFilms / Mustang-Town says:

You bumped the float while taking the assembly out… you have to be very careful and can’t let it touch anything while removing, or it will change the level.

soccerboots1 says:

you the man!!! I bought a tahoe just over a week ago and the fuel pump left me stranded last night. I found your video this morning and thought I’d give it a try. Thanks for sharing
