We currently do not. We’ll keep this request in mind in the event that we
need to perform this repair in the future. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

do you have a video on a coolant flush and coolant replace on 5.3 vortec
engines in a silverado 2004.

Very good!!

@tayagirl2020 I would have both the battery and the alternator tested to
see if they’re working correctly. It sounds as though you may just have a
bad battery. A serpentine belt that needs to be replaced, shouldn’t have
any effect on the charging the battery as long as it is not slipping and
still properly routed through the pulley system. Hope this helps you out.

You’re welcome. Have a great day! 1aauto.com

1A Auto Parts says:

@STONEYCLAW You could try a shorter serpentine belt, but you might not have
enough room to bypass the A/C compressor.

Question for you. I have a 5.3L V8 Vortec Engine model LM7. I cannot for
the life of me find out the timing specs. Does this engine need to be
re-timed? or does it some how do it on it’s own? As you cannot tell…I am
a noob with my engine….I have heard that Vortec’s cannot be timed due to
being non-adjustable

Thank you very much sir. This video is very good it help my father change
his belt in his Tahoe normally I would have done it for him but his in
another state now, so I found this video and I send it to him it help him a
lot he was able to do it him self thanks to this video

Joseph McCranie says:

Thank you. This was the best video I could find for how that pully loosens

1A Auto Parts says:

@VajraCoyote It depends on what type of truck you have. Most of them only
have one bolt that holds the serpentine belt tensioner in place. First you
would need to remove the belt to relieve the pressure off of the tensioner,
then you should be able to remove the bolt that holds the tensioner on.

1A Auto Parts says:

@toboe399 We currently do not have an auto repair video for this particular
repair. You may want to check a service manual or something like a Haynes
manual. There should be a topic on it in either of those books. Hope this
helps you out.

i died out in the tahoe with a dead battery, we boosted and it took me home
but died out again. i was told at the last oil change the serpentine belt
needed to be changed. could the serpentine belt be the cause of the tahoe
dying on me?

John Geoduck says:

Great video. All of the people attempting this should know there are
different length belts depending on the alternator you have. Look for the
code on the parts sticker located in your glove compartment to identify the
type of alternator you have. Here are some of the common alternator codes:
8A5, 8C0, K98, KG9 – 140 amp 8C6, KG3 – 145 amp 8C7, KG4, KG5 – 150 amp

1A Auto Parts says:

If the belt has cracks all over the place (usually you can see them on the
ribbed part), them it should be replaced so that it doesn’t break on you.

rmartin70 says:

I just replaced my serpentine belt in my 2002 Yukon. I had bought the belt
a few years ago but didn’t need it until now. I had a hell of a time
getting it over the alternator pulley.. After I started the vehicle it ran
very rough for about 5 seconds and then smoothed out, however the service
engine light came on. i disconnected the neg battery wire and the light did
not come back on. Could the light have come on because the belt was so
tight? It is the correct belt I checked twice.

Austin Bishop says:

When my 408l vortec in my Silverado runs it sounds like a jet engine, I.E.
a whirring type sound. Is this most likely the serpentine belt?
