@sampark

Could the wheel bearing also be bad even if the wheel has no play
whatsoever? I’m getting grinding noises from the front passenger wheel when
I turn right and brake ever so often.

If it’s not grinding when you apply the brakes, but more when you’re
driving and taking a turn, it could be a bad wheel bearing. We carry new
ones on our website 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

Thank you so much for posting this video. (It was really illuminating.)

If you don’t mind I’ve got a few question:

1) Is it more or less the same procedure to replace the “rear” hub?

2) When you buy a “hub” is the wheel bearing part of the assembly?

3) And lastly, how much can I expect to be charge for labor from my
mechanic for a rear hub on a Lincoln Mark v111?

Thank you so much for your help. Cheers!

You may want to check all of the other suspension pieces around that area
to see if anything else is worn out that might be causing this to
happen.1aauto.com 888-844-3393

Thanks – your videos are excellent and your printed information is precise,
concise and straight up. I have major issues with replacing the right front
axle bearing on a 1998 Toyota 4Runner. There was play in the hub so I
pressed in a new bearing, reassembled all the components and drove four
miles. I heard the sound of the rotor scraping against the caliper, raised
the the vehicle on a lift and gave it the ‘four point test’ and there was
similar play as before I replaced the bearing. Ideas?

Literally just saved me 200 dollars. Hell yea!

We just replaced a front hub on my Malibu that we ordered from you and I
just wanted to say THANK YOU! The car is no longer making a terrible noise
and it rides so much better! You also helped us with my turn signal switch
when it went out. You are the best! Thanks Again!!!!

1A Auto Parts says:

It should be replaced as soon as possibly. If left to long there’s is a
possibility of it self destructing. We carry the Timkin wheel bearings on
our website 1aauto.com or you can call Tony @ 866-403-3393 Hope this helps
you out.

DwDrums2000 says:

Will this work on the 2009-2012 Malibu? Thanks!

1A Auto Parts says:

If it’s a 2009 or 2010 Chevy Malibu it should work fine.

Thank you for your time, and share these videos.

Hi there, i have a problem with my 2004 Chevy Malibu classic. I head a
noise that is produced only when the car is in motion. It’s almost like the
sound made by those trucks with big tires. The difference is when i had
someone else taking off with my car, i can’t hear a sound from outside, i
can ear it only in the inside. The steering wheel does not vibrate even at
65/70 mph. No bad sound when turning. I was told it could possibly be the
wheel bearings. I can’t feel any shaking. Any other guess?

1A Auto Parts says:

I’m not sure if it’s a new wheel bearing that you have bought from us.If it
is call our sales line and we can pull your order up in the system and help
you out with this, if it’s a defective part. Our main sales number is

thank you for speeding up the video on those parts. That saved me a bit of
headache! Got any vids on 1998 ford contour? I’ll go check now.

Nice job, like your style well explained.

Thanks for posting this video, it’s the only one I’ve been able to find on

RavensGawkStudio says:

Great video but that hub nut just magically appears as being installed when
the rotor goes back on LOL.. Don’t forget to install the nut BEFORE you
lower the car to torque it!

1A Auto Parts says:

According to our books we show that they should be 173Ft Lbs.

1A Auto Parts says:

on vehicles that you can access the axle nut through the rim, you will want
to do it on the ground. If you have rims that do not have a hole large
enough to accommodate a socket, you will want to lower it down to the point
where the opposite tire is touching just enough to get the correct torque.

Miguel J says:

Would these steps be essentially the same if replacing the rear wheel hub
assembly on a 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix?

Rick S says:

Were those aftermarket red shims for the old brake pads or did you install
new brake pads all together?

Charles Lloyd says:

This is the best your video was on target and as simple as ABC. Thank You

1A Auto Parts says:

You may want to check the ABS connections to the front hubs to see it
they’re connected and seated properly.

1A Auto Parts says:

These hubs are self contained, they already come pre-lubricated there isn’t
a way to grease them.

1A Auto Parts says:

You should check both for excessive play and go from there. You might find
that there is something else like the lower ball joint causing the issue.

Mrshka Lili says:

What is this product that you spotted a brush before installing the
bearings? I do not understand what you say the name

1A Auto Parts says:

You may want to inspect the wheel bearings.

eayala5 says:

I used this video as a guide to install my front wheel bearings on my
Pontiac G6 but somehow i failed. I followed every step as shown in this
video but now my ABS sensor lights up and when I press onto the brakes i
can feel and hear a grinding noise against the pedal. Anyone know what the
problem may be? Could the ABS connector be defected? all the help and
advice is appreciated. thanks

1A Auto Parts says:

If everything was followed correctly in the video and you are having the
issues you are, the bearing is probably bad since there is a grinding
noise. You might want to recheck all of your work, including re-installing
the brakes. If everything is ok, you might want to return the bearing for a
replacement.

TheReusie says:

there is a clanking in my wheel and my hub shakes do i need to swap it? or
is it the shocks

binaryman96 says:

was just curious what kind of lubricant you used when installing the new
wheel hub/bearing?

Kausar Khan says:

Thanks for the video. In getting ready to do this on my car. I think you
stitched your brake job video to this and missed putting the center axle
nut back on. What is the torque spec for the center axle nut? In what step
should that be put on? Thanks!

ThePossom813 says:

I actually took it to the dealership and had the codes pulled, the new
bearing had a bad sensor on it. Thanks for the video.

1A Auto Parts says:

You issue could be with bad tires. Over time tires can break down and
create a ton of road noise.

Kausar Khan says:

Thank you!! In what step should the center axle nut be tightened? When the
car is back on the ground? Or right after torquing the three colts?

rudeboylll says:

Hello, I have a 2006 malibu ltz i just replaced both front hub bearings but
the roaring noise is still there. What else could be the problem?

jw200 says:

How dangerous is if the wheel as pretty significant play? (Visible even by
eye)? I have heard that old bearing can just “lock up” by itself one day
and it could cause complete wheel “lock up” also and accident. True?

ThePossom813 says:

I followed everything you showed, the only difference I found was my axle
nut is 36mm, the 35 would not fit. Also, after completely reassembled, the
ABS and T/C lights come on at about 15mph and don’t go off until the car is
turned off, how do I fix this issue.

1A Auto Parts says:

It’s anti-seize. You can find it in your local auto parts store.

Steven St. Clair says:

Will the installation on this video apply for a 2006 Chevy Impala?

1A Auto Parts says:

@loser6574 You should not have to hit the axle hard enough to do any
damage. If you give it one good hit 99 times out of 100 it is going to
move, in my experience. If it doesn’t move you need to use an axle press.

1A Auto Parts says:

All wheel bearings are similar in the concept of how they are replaced just
with your grand prix there might be different sized bolts.
