Thanks or the vid, I tried doing it from the drivers side to stay out of
the snow but it looks like I’m going to be freezing my keister off with
this repair. With no guaranty it’s going to work. We did go 4 years with
just the highest blower setting working, so I guess I should count my
blessings. With only 32K on this car, I’d be nuts not to keep it. Is this
a repair I’ll have to do fairly often, the car only had 16K on it in 09 and
the resistor was already compromised. Also, if the blower needs to be
dropped, is that an easy thing or challenging? Thanks much from a new
subscriber.
Thank you very helpful video
Thank you 1A for the instructional video. However, it was imperative that I
remove the blower fan prior to removing the resistor. Also, at least on my
model, the blower connection was tucked in the rear of the blower.
Regardless, got it replaced and everything works. Thanks again.
The issue will be with the blower motor resistor. The video above will be
the closest thing we have for your vehicle.
Showed me just what i needed to know. Thanks very much.
Thanks for this video, saved me time and money!! The only thing that I did
different was I also removed the blower motor itself, i.e. the squirrel
cage, to get at the back bolt that is right up against the firewall, and it
made it easier. Thanks again for your great service here!
It could be that or it may also be a bad fan motor. Hope this helps you
out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
Thanks for this video, I think I’ll be able to fix my car using it. Just
wondering, did you remove the glove box as well to get up to the computer?
Thank you.
Is it the same for a 2004 Malibu? I didn’t see an.y video for it
This video really helped me. Thank you.
Usually if you start to loose the blower motor fan speed settings, it’s
typically a blower motor resistor that is going bad. We carry new ones on
our website 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
OK so I just changed out my resistor the new one is longer and black the
old one is green and short does that matter? Also after changing it put
still didn’t work!! It only worked on 5 setting before and then it stopped
working on all settings
We didn’t need to. If you follow the steps in the video, you should be able
to make the repair with no problems. Thanks for checking us out. Have a
great day! 1aauto.com 888-844-3393 FREE SHIPPING IN THE LOWER 48 STATES!!!
We currently do not have an auto repair video that shows this, but it
should be located around the blower motor. We carry new bolower motors and
resistors for your 98 Chevy Astro van on our website 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
is this what i need to do if my car isnt blowing cold air or heat at all?
no speed works im completely lost.
Thanks ! geart video and explication
I was recently looking for a dead mouse inside of the car and the first
place that I looked was the blower motor. After no luck and putting it all
back together, only fan setting 5 worked. The car had some water damage so
do you think the resistor is gone or could I have simply bumped something
loose? Also this car had a bit of water damage around the passenger side
which could have contributed.
Thanks. My son will be able to use your informative video to repair his car.
Thank you so much, i have been looking for a video for my Malibu 2001 with
a broken blower motor resistor, You are doing a great job, thanks ,Emil
I have an 05 Malibu that the fan only works on setting 4. Is the problem in
the blower resistor, and is it the same as the video?
Awesome vid!! 1A rocks!
It may be a similar process. We currently do not have an auto repair video
that shows this particular repair. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
could it still be the resistor if the fan turns off intermittently?
thanks to your video I was able to fix my car 🙂 although I tore my hands
up because I have big fingers and could barely reach it to disconnect things
thanks. buying this car with same problem.
Great video, thanks!
hey i have a blower motor in a 2005 malibu maxx that won’t shut off no
matter what, keys out and still won’t shut off we changed out the blower
moter relay but still the same problem and ideas
Thanks alot man ive been wanting a video on this for awhile
The issue might be with the switch on the panel. Since you are still
getting power to the motor after the car is off.
where is the blower motor resistor in a 1998 astro van? thanks
Hi Travis, If it was a resistor that you had ordered from us, you may want
to confirm that you did receive the correct one. Our sales line is
888-844-3393 You may want to check the fuses and also see if you have power
to the plug end that plugs into the blower motor resistor. 1aauto.com
your video was very informative but … that damn screw behind the resistor
is impossible to get to i tried laying sideways even upside down on the
passenger seat and still no luck the seat just does not go back far enough
for me to fit in!! suggestions?

Thanks for your videos! I had the fan motor go out on my Explorer two
months ago now my blower motor resistor went out on my Malibu. Your videos
saved me a ton of money and headaches!
It there’s power to the blower motor resistor and the isn’t working this
blower motor or the blower motor resistor may be bad. You may want to check
the power going to the both of them. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
I can be a little tricky to get at.
