Hello I’m sorry to ask maybe u already answer this question but how do u
know if the blower motor or the resistor its bad because on my 05 impala
none of the speeds work and whenever I turn the heat/ac on a burning smell
starts coming out of the vents of my car so I dont know which of this 2
parts is bad or is it something else thanks in advance

You may want to check the wire harness coming off of the blower motor and
also the blower motor resistor to see if they are melted or damaged.
Sometimes if the blower motor resistor fails, it can heat up and melt the
plug end. We carry new blower motors and also new blower motor resistors on
our website 1aauto.com 888-844-3393. Hope this helps you out.

thanks for the video

Thank you and 1 question. On my 2003 Impala the Fan is working only on the
highest speed. So if that’s the case my best bet is to replace the Resistor
? No need to replace the entire fan / motor.?

Thanks for the help. You guys are A1 + in my book

1A Auto Parts says:

You could try to see if see if there’s power to the blower motor and the
resistor with an ohm meter or a test light. Also check the fuses to see if
there’s one that might be blown. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

I did not loose any speeds it just quit working

1A Auto Parts says:

Usually when the blower motor goes bad you’ll start to loose the different
speed settings. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

1A Auto Parts says:

If all of the speeds aren’t working it might be a bad blower motor resistor
going bad.

I am having troubles with my ac in my 1998 monte Carlo it blows cold air
but it dosent come out hard and fast enough when u put your hand up to it
it is cold but other than that you can’t feel it even if I leave the car on
for 5-10 min it still dosent cool the car down I’ve replaced the blower
motor but still nothing do you have any ideas on what it could be

razorbackfan2011 says:

I have a 2002 Chevy avalanche, when I hit about 40 mph the fan speed slows
down to almost nothing but before 40 blower works great. Any thoughts on
this problem? I Need Help…lol

1A Auto Parts says:

You may want to check the electrical connection between the blower motor
and the wire harness to see if it’s loose or damaged in any way. 1aauto.com

i bought the resistor from you guys…recently replaced but my fan only
works on 5 still….what else can it be? do you have any
suggestions…thanks..

I have an Impala 05 and my blower motor fan stays on high all of the time
even when my car is off…Just on high no other speeds…I am forced to
take the blower motor fuse out in order to turn the fan off or else it
drains my battery…am I having to replace the blower motor resistor or the
blower motor itself..?? or something else entirely?

LookAtMeNowww3 says:

the problem with your blower shutting off after driving is a short in the
connector,i had the same problem that it would stop working after hitting a
bump.you can either cut ans splice the loose connection, replace the whole
wire harness or what i did ,wedged a matchstick in the connection

minerquad says:

My blower stopped blowing completely. It never missed speeds, just stopped.
Fuse is good and i can feel heat “leaking” through (my feet stay warm).
Would this still be the resistor or is there any way to diagnose what the
problem could be?

mrperfect390 says:

how can i tell if its my blower or the havac system?is this a costly job if
taken 2 shop?i have the same car jus wanted to no if the blower doesnt come
on is it the blower?

Jon Barker says:

I just took out the blower motor and checked the connection. It was really
dusty inside the connector so I blasted it with electronics cleaner then
compressed air. Fired ‘er up and now she blows like hurricane Charlie !!!
Hope it holds up.

Jon Barker says:

if it was low on freon wouldn’t at least blow air ? it does not blow
anything hot, warm or cold for 5-10 minutes. Then while driving for 5-10
minutes it starts blowing. when it does kick in it’s ice cold. I know the
clutch is good because it is operating when their is no air blowing.

yazied hosni says:

half the job is using the right tools, you did good , but there are special
pliers for that plastic pin and they are about 7.99 for generic brand,
get’em and they would save the time from 1:25 – 1:52

cmichael442 says:

@1aauto OMG i have the same problem for a while now. My freon ran out too
maybe because it was always on high.

XGeeklyChicX says:

Hi this is a great video. I want to make the repair myself because it cost
so much at the shop and I think they may try to tell me
anything…….that’s why I’m doing research. My symptoms are: a loud
‘screeching sound’ when the heater fan is switched on and it only works on
5. Now it sounds like is it grinding!! Will this video solve my issue?

1A Auto Parts says:

It may be the resistor. You also may want to check to see if any of the
wires are loose and causing the intermittent issue.

Joejr2 says:

Great job with the cam work in a tight space

onelovelyladie2 says:

I own a chevy monte carlo ss. My AC only works on speed 5. Does that mean
that just the motor resistor has to be changed? Are do I need to change the
Motor as well? Thanks in advance.

Jon Barker says:

Hi there. It ended up being a loose connection with the wires partially
melted at the plastic connector. I replaced the connector and now the
blower will turn off and it stays on high only. Even when I turn the car
off and pull the key out. Id the resister now shot also ?

1A Auto Parts says:

@facio559 It almost sounds like there’s to much power going to it, or
something possible shorting them out. I would check for a frayed wire, or
possibly the fuse going to it. Also check to make sure the proper size fuse
is in the fuse box. Hope this helps you out.

meTimetraveler says:

I am fairly tall, I did most of it upside down, slid if from the drivers
side then down into passenger’s feet area. The blower motor on mine has a
different connector, could not figure out so I cut the wires going to
replace the resistor pack anyway. The one screw in back of the 7 way
connector is smaller diameter with a plastic sleeve that snaps into the
cutout for the screw, did not need to loosen, had to loosen the other back
screw and remove the front. also be careful of the vacuum lines.

evaman1000 says:

I have a 2000 olds intrigue and when i went to loosen the bolts on the
blower motor water started to drip from a couple of spots, could this be
from when i ran the car through the car wash , if so shouldn’t that area be
sealed off from water getting in?

facio559 says:

i have an 03 impala and the speed only works on number 5 and i have
replaced the motor resistor 4 times already and it works fine 1-5 for a
couple days then it stops and only 5 works, hopefully you might have a
suggestion.
