The belt routing may be different. There should be a sticker near the
radiator when you open the hood, that will show you how to route the belt.
Releasing the belt tensioner should be a similar process. 1aauto.com

Andrew Garza says:

Is it the same for 05 3.4L?

1A Auto Parts says:

If you’re just replacing the serpentine belt you do not need to drain the
radiator. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

Kieran OBrien says:

quick question, should I drain my coolant before taking it apart? if so
what is the best way to drain it?

speedr123 says:

Glad you had the diagram of the belt path here, was unable to find under
hood or in owner manual. didn’t remove coolant tank, easy job. Thanks !

Elit3Ac3s says:

Thank you very much for this video. Really helped me alot.

1A Auto Parts says:

The 2005 Impala should be the same. The routing for the 3.4L might be
slightly different but there should be some sort of diagram of the belt on
under the hood some place.

Great video! Hoping my 3800 in my 2000 Buick Regal goes as easy as this. 🙂

On my 2007 Impala, there is a stub at the end of the idler arm for about a
20 mm wrench and the arm comes up to release tension. I used a large pair
of vice grips to lock onto the stub after loosing a substantial piece of
skin after the wrench slipped off. There is also a hose support bracket to
remove, but the tip about removing the overflow tank is great.

your videos are awesome… thanks

Great video!! helped one of our members

Great video, thanks a lot, gives me the confidence to try it. My car, a
2007 Impala, is sitting over in the local YMCA parking lot.

1A Auto Parts says:

You could probably get one out of a junkyard or your local dealer may be
able to get one for you.

We’ll keep this request in mind in the event that we need to make this

@IntergalacticDude Thank you for checking us out. Have a great day!

Jeron Hicks says:

Great Video! Does this work the same way for a 2007 impala 3.5l?

dimpala5000 says:

Goodness this helped a little lady like myself out a whole bunch. Really
appreciate it!

youtube!

I installed a new belt on my impala and the belt squeaks every time it’s
cold and you rev the engine. Within 10 minutes or so of letting it idle or
driving it and the squeak goes away, why is this ? Maybe the belt tensioner
?

1A Auto Parts says:

HI, we currently do not have an auto repair video that shows this. If you
have a Chiltons manual is should show you how to remove that part. Hope
this helps you out.

1A Auto Parts says:

It may be similar to your Chevy Impala depending on the year.

JJtoob says:

@1aauto it’s ok, I was able to figure it out, I wasn’t expecting a reply
since the video is about a different car, but thanks anyway 🙂
