Love the Volt. I just bought myself the Nissan Leaf. $4000 down, $199/month
lease for 15,000 miles a year. Great deal and fabulous car!

iman says:

My inspector said I had to use out door rated wire, so I ended up using
UF-B wire…

Zantor135 says:

it runs on gas to. after the 40miles charge it switches to gas at about
40-45mpg. You can go cross country if you want at 45mpg.

LorianGish says:

After the GM rebate, dealer discount, and Federal tax credit (thanks to
president Bush), my Volt cost just under $30K.

HardRockCamaro says:

There is no lease on the battery for a Volt in the UK. The battery is
included in the car price. The car does not cost £40,000, it’s £35,000. And
then you get a £5,000 credit off the government bringing it down to £30,000
And you won’t pay 18p/kwh at night to charge your Volt. I do agree the case
is not as strong for a Volt here as we have diesels that the US do not.
However there is less servicing on a Volt, if you commute 40 miles per day
it costs about £1.20 per day vs £6.00 in a Focus.

paycheckvomitthorax says:

I agree. The price of gasoline is a political tool. In fact a very large
portion of the price of gasoline is tax. The outrageous tax component that
convinced me to buy this chevy volt. I Consider it my method of quiet
protest.

JWY says:

People are going to trip over that.

Matthew Brenengen says:

Nice job. Love the humor. So. We want to know. Have you ever put gas in the
car?

myriadcorp says:

Shake Shake Shake!

xfusionpower says:

is the charging station water proof ?

BaggywinklePress Custom Screenprinting says:

Wow! What kind of grid tie-in/charger setup do you use and how much did it
cost?!

Nima Ataei says:

I’m sorry, but you are completely incompetent in so many different ways. I
don’t even know where to begin correcting you. -A Proud 2012 Volt owner w/
240v fast charger.

William Dean says:

@justkeepinitreal18 They run from 33k to 36k with rebate.

Nosey10 says:

The Volt is junk?????you must be a clown!!

urbex2007 says:

The Volt is built on the chassis of a Vauxhall Astra 1.4litre 4 cylinder
16v car. They had a surplus of these useless engines in the UK. I would
LIKE an EV if it was a sensible price, it’s £40,000 in the UK excluding
battery lease and 3 times the cost of normal insurance/servicing. With
electric at £0.18 per KWh, no one can even say how many KWh it takes
(240v)for a full charge. The Engine&motor is connected to the CVT gearbox,
so not a true EV. More like a Toyota Prius, only a Nissan Leaf is EV

TheICETEE22 says:

They you should have bought a less expensive Nissan Leaf if you are NEVER
going to put gas in it. When you say “this is the gas tank” on the vehicle,
no that’s the charger the vehicle actually does have a gas tank and that’s
not it.

Robert Luciani says:

Did you use the government credit as part of the down payment?

hoffa1968 says:

I see one or two year old volts on eBay already for around 30k so il be
going to the us to buy mine and so far there are no used in Canada probably
because the people buying them are tired of paying up to 1.34litre in some
provinces that’s 5.36 a gallon already. so we produce a ton of oil out of
this country and again gouged we are it’s fucking sickening already. In
Saudi arabia there people pay 50 cents a litre but noo our resources are
owned by foreign countries I’m so fucking sick of it.

Luis Perez says:

If you can’t afford $5 for gas Hot the hell can you afford 40K for a
compact car? And when you go on a overnight trip, do you have to install a
charger at everyone’s house that you spend the night with?

paycheckvomitthorax says:

The Volt is a lease. I put $12,500 down. Payments are $200/month. Looks
like I should save about $475/month on gasoline. Factoring tax deduction,
if all goes well, the volt will be free.

MrEnergyCzar says:

It cost about $30k in solar to eliminate my utilities and power my car at
home… the charger is an SPX, it’s a basic $500 level 2 charger, have one
put in a work as well. No one needs any of those other fancy chargers since
the charger is in the actual car so it’s really just a cord….

esqueue says:

Unfortunately, I do agree with you. There are people stupid enough to do
this.

MrEnergyCzar says:

I spent $123 in “total” fuel the first 13,400 miles in my Volt… used the
surplus solar from home and the courtesy charger at work…. after 15
months, I’m holding at around 354 MPG, give or take…

johnson1095 says:

well you know how everything is more in Canada sorry bro. maybe you could
come over here and get one and drive it back home 🙂

3466mark says:

and btw…how is it after 1 year?

HardRockCamaro says:

There is no CVT gearbox in a Volt. The engine provides some power to assist
under certain conditions only, but it’s a small amount, like 15%.40 miles
on battery = £1.20 + £6.8 in petrol for another 50 miles = £7 total for 90
odd miles vs £11 in the diesel. The less miles you do per day the more the
Volt makes sense, the more miles you do per day, the more a diesel makes
sense.

Joel gonzalez says:

What kind of breaker and wire size did u used?

Kevin C says:

from experience, doesn’t charging the batteries in a quicker fashion mean
they wont last as long? just wondering.

Jeff Coleman says:

I would love to drive a Volt. To ghostride it over a very high cliff.
Junk!!!!

HardRockCamaro says:

That’s a lie. Insurance on a Focus is not £340pa vs £2,000 for a Volt. Nor
is servicing on a Focus cheaper than a Volt.

Luis Perez says:

How long will it hold a charge?

MrEnergyCzar says:

On far trips you don’t need to charge, it has a gas generator that kicks in
until the next time you charge again…

MrEnergyCzar says:

Oh yes, actually having a custom rack, the panels and the inverter.
Sunpower panels, SMA inverter, you can’t connect to the grid unless a
licensed company installs and verifies the system so check first.

3466mark says:

Do you mean $1250 down and 200 per month?
