the key in my truck is on the left

Dalton Keels says:

I have a 2013 Chevy Silverado Texas Edtion LT 1500. Since its a new year
model, I can’t use that easy plug In thing? Cause my truck has a tow
package on it (Tranny cooler, tow haul mode, ETC.), and I think since it
has a tow package it still has that easy plug in. Do you have any idea?

briansmobile1 says:

@feedinc Cool.

feedinc says:

Nevermind. Looked at the instructions on their website. The red wire is
purposely left out to insert into the appropriate hole according to year.

briansmobile1 says:

@averagepatriot Ok. I’ll get it on the list.

briansmobile1 says:

@Goregoon Thanks ; )

averagepatriot says:

Do you think you could do a video discussing the new DEF system? Great vid.

MisterMattyMo says:

@briansmobile1 Cool thanks!

briansmobile1 says:

@rwbishop THAT’S WHAT IT IS! I’ve been wondering- thanks!

ScottysDetailing says:

Great videos thanks for sharing.

rwbishop says:

@spelunkerd Don’t know, have heard conflicting stories. As far as I know,
this isn’t much of an issue in my area (So Cal) and to be honest, haven’t
followed it all that close… but hear/read the occasional horror story.
I’d like to know how this stuff will hold up to time, provided the rats
don’t get it first. Needless to say, auto mfg’s aren’t covering rodent
caused wiring issues under warranty…

briansmobile1 says:

@averagepatriot You want a video on the new “blue juice” or “Blue Piss”
that reduces NOx by converting it over to water and nitrogen (and slight
Ammonia stink) by injecting a solution of 65% H2O and 35% CO(NH2)2 (Urea or
it’s other names Carbamide, carbonyl diamide, carbonyldiamine,
diaminomethanal, diaminomethanone) into the exhaust stream while
maintaining normal engine power. That DEF system?

briansmobile1 says:

@bobby8926 Congratulations!

averagepatriot says:

@briansmobile1 The new Diesel Exhaust Fluid system on 2011-2012 Silverados.

Goregoon says:

@antonio30824 Saving your brakes on the towing vehicle would be a sort of
“bi-product” of the whole system but not that actual reason for needing a
trailer brake controller. The reason for having it is so that when you are
towing something very heavy, the trailer brake controller with apply brakes
to the trailer in unison with your braking to keep the towing vehicle from
being “pushed” through an intersection (or whatnot) by the shear momentum
of the load behind you.

rwbishop says:

Mfg’s have been using cra*py Soy based wire insulation for a while now, not
sure what year they started, but 07 or so sounds about right. In some areas
(Denver for one), rodents and the like just crave the stuff, causing untold
havoc. Run a search on soy based insulation for more. Again, love the
videos! They are very much appreciated, Thanks Brian!

briansmobile1 says:

@antonio30824 Many trailers like the one I tow have electric brakes that
assist in slowing the truck/trailer. The controller runs the trailer brakes
including when to brake and how much brake to apply.

averagepatriot says:

@briansmobile1 That would be the one haha.

briansmobile1 says:

@MisterMattyMo You’re welcome!

briansmobile1 says:

@MisterMattyMo It controls the braking of a trailer that has electric
motors instead of hydraulic wheel cylinders.

spelunkerd says:

@rwbishop Wow, what a disaster. Was this specific to one manufacturer?

Ben Waters says:

The button on the side does not change setting for different trailer, it is
a sensitivity button. Controls the response of the trailer brakes

Dalton Keels says:

And also, which Hopkins do u think I need? I tow a 2011 Sportsmen K-Z 27ft
BH (travel trailer) with tandem axles. It weighs about 6000-6500 pounds.
Which model # do I need?

briansmobile1 says:

@JOHNDEEBANK Absolutely! No blue wire the length of the rig.

Goregoon says:

nice N easy as long as you have a vehicle with factory tow packages…. a
different story if you’re having to hard wire the whole system. Another job
well done. I love your truck (even if he DOES sound like Scooby Doo). LoL

feedinc says:

I wonder why they list that harness as applicable from 00-06. I heard the
wire positions vary between years. I don’t think my jumper harness was the
same on my 00 and my 05.

briansmobile1 says:

@averagepatriot Which DEF are you talking about?

Robert Juengst says:

Could you possibly do a video on how to adjust the Agility Brake System? I
just had one installed and am not sure about how to do it. Thanks either
way.

MisterMattyMo says:

What is a Brake controller? :o?

skittlebrex says:

Quick note on the harness in the vid. The red wire is left out
intentionally. Depending on the year of the truck, the red wire will need
to go into either the “a”slot or the “d” slot in the connector.

BlockParty says:

I’m a lil new to this but why would you need a Trailer Brake Controller?
does it help save the breaks on your truck so they don’t work as hard when
you towing?

Iris Perez says:

I have 2 Hopkins Brake controler Impulse retail value 79.99 and 3 hopkins
