iv never seen anybody glue and weld it, usually they do one or the other
if ur doing this repair, beat everything with a hammer to get the rust broke free before u waste any wire wheel or time on it i even use screwdrivers to get back in hard to get to areas
So me personally I would have spot welded the peice on but this still looks great
