Many thanks and love all your vids – but what this vid needs is more
cowbell.

A. J. Tarnas says:

No sir, thank you! :r] Have to replace the fuel pump in dad’s ’99 Suburban
K1500, probably going to cut a hatch from above. But I have a couple old
toyota 22Rs, could use some good videos in that market niche.

JEREMY FOUNTAIN says:

@briansmobile1 i think i saw a vid once of eric cook doing a tour of

Lee Cheek says:

Great video! I have an older ’87 Chevy with the saddle tanks. Had to do
both tanks. Dropped them from the bottom..was pretty easy, two straps and
four bolts each.

briansmobile1 says:

You’re most welcome. I’m happy you were able to fix your problem. Way to go!

briansmobile1 says:

@TheTexasCoder I’ve never had an issue with that. It sounds pretty sexy to
me though.

Trokiando says:

Hey bro my 06 Silverado marks empty but when I fill up, the pump that pumps
gas stops so im thinking maybe its full but the gauge marks empty. What do
I need to replace, to fix it

Cool vid !! my next project, thanks funny guy !!

serchmarc says:

how did you know was the fuel pump, did you make a press test and a hot wire
to the pump test? to be sure is the fuel pump?

briansmobile1 says:

Thanks- the tank was quite full and that’s why we did it this way. This may
not be an option on a Tahoe or Suburban. (for clarity, we did not drain the
tank)

briansmobile1 says:

You’re welcome!

briansmobile1 says:

@backwoodsctryboy The filler neck will be different as are the tail lights,
but yes you can.

Homelesskateboards says:

Thanks homie

tnb4mnf says:

Sweet video man i hope i never have to do that job to my 98 chevy

jtman04401 says:

If there is not a frame member/bed member in the way above the tank I have
used a cut off saw to cut a nice hole in the bed to get to the fuel pump a
few times. just cut nice and even then weld tabs in the piece you cut out
so when you are done you can set it right back in and either self tap screw
it or rivet it back down. Just make sure there is zero fuel leaks if you
chose to cut a hole in the bed. 🙂

briansmobile1 says:

You’re welcome cuz

slippery says:

Hi Brian, Gr8 video !! can this be done with gas still in tank ?? I’ve
notice a few other videos that showed taking tank off and tank being
drained….Anyways ur video help me alot as i am doing this fuel pump
myself but wanted to kno if it can be done with gas still in tank ? once u
put pump in u started ur truck for a test….to me it’s like u didn’t drain
ur tank…???? Thanks for ur help n Gr8 video..

briansmobile1 says:

Welcome- I look forward to it.

briansmobile1 says:

@backwoodsctryboy He did! That was a great video that got me to switch over
to Airtex. I love that they do all the testing they do and that they’re
made in the USA

briansmobile1 says:

To remove the fuel sending unit that is about 33cm tall you have to remove
the bed OR remove the tank. I believe clearance is not more than 18cm.

briansmobile1 says:

That’s a perfectly reasonable precaution and I LIKE IT! I have heard that
before, but apparently my life is otherwise not sufficiently interesting
enough for me and I have to take dumb risks.

rocsvt1 says:

i work on this trucks and the best and fastest way is to take the bed off.
some hoses are hard plastic and will crack easily if you try to lower the
tank well at least on the 2500 hd models and some 3500.

WasabiMeal says:

Cool man, good vid!

bhstone1 says:

I have a feeling you entertain yourself really, really well.

vettelover2009 says:

no…I’d guess he added a combustible mixture to the intake during
cranking…this confirmed the truck was starving for fuel…I’d also guess
that he listened for the pump to come on and possibly banged on the bottom
of the tank to make the pump armature move into place to make it run if it
would with the key on…

briansmobile1 says:

You’re welcome. You will find that most of them are loud, but they do get
much louder before they fail. I think they motor internals get loose.

JohnSRosamond says:

how did you depressurize the system? Take the fuse out and run ’til it
dies? or other?

briansmobile1 says:

@jbone2470 Its a disco strobe I have in the shop.

briansmobile1 says:

Thanks A.J. : )

briansmobile1 says:

@flukesalot YES!

MoH ALO says:

Cranks cranks …won’t start…lol
