Good job help me a lot with my 88 chevy k1500 5.7
The grease goes on the underside of the module I believe?
At the very start I was betting on a bad module. No offense to your expert skills. Your very good.
Your suppose to use the dielectric grease on the base of the icm so it doesent get really hot and go bad again
working on one of these right now. distributor fires but no signal from the module to ecm….therefore no injector pulse.
Where can I find that manual in pdf?
It's good you bring your box of socks for diag work. Gotta have some socks! Your customer is an idiot. He should have asked you before shutting off the truck. I guess his ego got hurt that a "kid" fixed his POS when he couldn't.
Nice bro thank for the info have a great day
If you own one of these older TBI trucks, you should carry an ICM in the glove box
Can you fix my truck
SUPER HELPFUL!!! THANK YOU!
How can I get a diagram like this for my 1984 s10 blazer
1993, C1500, 5.7l. OBD-I flashy blinky code said there was a problem with the ignition module.
I pulled the ignition module and took it to O'Reilly. They had an ignition module tester at the store. Although, only the long-time employee knew how to use the thing!
My module tested bad. I also had them verify the new replacement module checked out okay before I left the store.
No muss, no fuss.
Nice to have repair issues go so smoothly!
Bro that’s not an HDI, that’s the ignition module. It’s underneath the distributor CAP, not underneath the entire thing. It’s an ignition module, you’ve called it 3 different names.
What is a cheaper tool to check the pick up coil, G & W wire? I had to pull the dist. out put it in a vice & knock roll pin out, r&r pick up coil. 1991, 305, K2500 4X4.
Hahaha, love that… i was driving down the road, minding my own business….
Hello guys , do you know if ICM good one , how many ohms run around like ? My ICM when I checked only show around 4.6-5.1 ohms. Is that a good or bad ? Thanks for the advice
It was the PCM in my case, replaced it with a 555 pulser… Still a work in progress.
bad ground strap is my first guess
New engine, started right up. Was running. 1994 chevy c2500 now no spark. New plugs, 2 sets wires, 2 caps, 2 rotor, 2 coils, 2 ditributers, fuses, 2 modules…coil sparks once on key power up make/break. No spark at plugs….
Old school PHAD. Love it.
Just to add to the diagnostic I have the same system on my 87 Silverado same problem. No spark or injector control I ready did all the test the pick up coil test past the same as Ivan's video. The problem was not the module the pickup coil only worked when disconnected from module but when I back probe and connect to module no signal. So the problem ended up being PU coil. So make sure you test with PU coil connected to module so you do not replace for no reason and confirm PU coil. I did all test on bench was easier just power coil and ground Dist base connect 2 harness to coil and Dist ground test light then tip to coil if you get spark all good. If in the the vehicle no spark check wiring to ECM.
It ant no 5.0 ……5.0 come in Ford's its a 350 are 4.3 in these truck.
These ignition control modules are garbage. Best to keep two in the truck. One of them will work the other will be bad out of the box.
