I have a 1989 chevy c1500 with 5.7 tbi. It's starts up no problem runs perfectly normal for a few minutes then stalls UNLESS you touch/have your foot on the gas. I have changed almost every sensor ignition module full tune up. Does anyone know what it can be?

@sweetlikeADAM You don't have to know that much about cars to work there. It was probably more likely to be that he knew someone he wanted to hire, or maybe didn't like what you wore to the interview? I used to work there back in the day- I applied in a shirt and tie and that's what got me the job. (the guy that hired me told me that.) I knew WAY more than my co workers did- didn't matter for them.

I had an interview at Autozone not too long ago, and the manager interviewing me gave me all the symptoms(exactly, besides the ABS) you mentioned and told me to name what the issue was. I named everything I could, and couldn't answer correctly. He said it would be the ICM. He said it was typical for GMs, which I didn't know. Didn't get the job…

great info here. it hadn't occured to me. i had one that the little indicator for the gear select wasn't there, no power door locks and a few other things and it ended up being a bad ground going down the left side of the engine behind the power steering pump. but that was on an 07. and when you said the scanner didn't get power i thought you were going for the cig lighter fuse, until you started explaining more. we run into that one alot. cause the dlc gets its power from that fuse.

briansmobile1 says:

@asayle3r5 The real reason is the wire they use is crap now. The insulation, gauge, and copper grade are all crap China stuff.

briansmobile1 says:

@asayle3r5 Don't know? I've seen videos of workers drinking at the park on their lunch breaks. Maybe that has something to do with it.

Andrew S. says:

What ever happened to GM having rock-solid electrical systems?

briansmobile1 says:

@pberglin Thanks.

briansmobile1 says:

@grishenko45 Thanks. For a special bonus for you- the wire that blew the fuse… on top of the bell housing. ; )

grishenko45 says:

nice bit of info there!
