Looks easy, just need space and time to do it.
@strangebrew1128 Never heard of it.
I don’t tinker with cars and found that the alternator was failing in my
daughters Trailblazer. I watched this video and was able to replace the
alternator in in hour. Thanks for posting this video it was extremely
helpful and definitely saved me some money.
@turner2055 I use a 15mm wrench, even with that it is a tight fit. A lot of
folks have said that a ratcheting 15mm wrench worked great for them.
The 2K is a tad bigger then the stock group 78 lol Nah, this was in Bryans
truck, the alt bearings are toast lol
@MAY03LT That last bracket bot is a bitch and the bottom bolt for the
alternator…whoever designed this should be bitch slapped!
Yeah man, that bottom bolt can be tough. Glad the vid could help!
Just did my sister’s alternator this weekend. The bottom bolt is definitely
a pain. Using a thread chaser or tap (M10, I believe) will help clean the
aluminum threads, and make replacing the 3 bolts considerably easier.
Thanks for the vid.
For The bolt under alternator I use a wratcheting 15mm wrench. The top
bracket bolt I use a 3 and a 6 inch extentions linked together and i go
right behind the A/C lines with the wratchet.
A ratcheting 15mm wrench is definitely the way to go for the bottom bolt!
To bad I don’t one. lol Also, had an ac line in the way so after getting
the bolt loose just left it in the alternator to get it out without
fighting with the line. Thanks for the video. A great help!
Good vid, and nice editing!
@Redlinesixtynine Thanks man. No throttle body video yet, doing the
thermostat how to next.
can you list all the tools you needed to replace your alternator. i have a
2004 gmc envoy which has the same engine as yours. thanks.
@derekandkeyasha01 I use a 6″ and a 3″ extension linked together and the
15mm socket to get to that bolt. It helps to have an extendable magnet in
case the bolt falls.
Where did you get the bar to release the tension?
@MAY03LT how did you get the bolt under the alternator i cant get shit in
there
I like this video but how do you remove the alternator from a front wheel
drive 3.5litre engine aka 213V6. Also how come the 3.5 litre engines are
not featured in automotive videos from any of you.
Thanks for the helpful hints with the Alternator. How do I reset the pcm so
that the ac will not make the idle stall the engine or prevent it from
irregular idle? How long does it take before the ECU is reset after a rough
start?
Will putting another battery, or bigger battery and alternator in my 07 ls
harm anything else? Cuz um….i want moar POWAH!
Replaced my alternator today with help from this. I used a standard
Craftsman 15mm wrench for the bottom bolt; it fits but takes along time.
When the bolt came in contact with AC line, I wrapped a strap around the AC
line and had my dad pull the strap from below the vehicle to move the AC
line down about 2 inches so I could continue removing bolt. Once we figured
out that method, it was a piece of cake. Thanks for the upload.
@MAY03LT Go to Trailvoy.com everything you need.
just got a 250amp alt put in this past week in my tb ltz. One of biggest
pains i have ever had to deal with for alternators. the main problem was
the bottom bolt of the alternator. Ended up having to go buy a flex
extension for my ratchet. made it a lot simpler. Nice video btw
Will do, bro.
I am trying to figure out if my alternator is going out…maybe you guys
can help. 1. My car wouldn’t start one morning after 1 try with the key,
tried again and it worked fine. 2. The car would not start for me this
morning, but once again after a try or two it started right up. 3. I went
to work and came out to a TB that would not start. I had a coworker jump it
and it worked just fine for maybe 500 yards down the road. 4. While driving
in traffic (under 2000 rpms) the car would stall…
i have a hc2000 under my hood too… and did your EA alternator die?
Great tutorial and your cameraman had a steady hand. Thanks a ton man!
@fuddman56 Glad to hear!
@Sn00kyCr00ksWorld It will not hurt the vehicle at all. I’ve put over 100k
miles on mine with an upgraded alt and additional batteries.
Helpful vid. Do you have one on how to clean the throttle body? Thanks!
i getting fustrated i been looking all over the net. you got a trailblazer
do you think a dual kit can fit in a trailblazer. or is it possible cause i
wanna add my stock150 amp to my 200 amp
Heck yea! For sure bud! Your a wrench head, I can tell. Real men do their
own shit! I gave ya 5*s for it!
Lmao
good job, thanks for the help.
@derekandkeyasha01 Sure. -8mm wrench for factory battery terminal -3/8″
drive ratchet/3″ extension/6″extension/15mm socket/10mm socket -some folks
bought a 15mm ratcheting wrench for the bottom alt bolt -long reach magnet
in case the 3rd bracket bolt falls -small screwdriver
hey can u put a dual alternator kit on a 2003 trailblazer
