Is there a way to re attach the bottom latch pulley? I tried prying it from
the bottom but it hasn’t worked. There’s a bunch of play on the lower rod
but I’m not sure how to get in there to see if it’s detached. My top latch
comes out but I can’t for the life of me get the bottom one.
THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! Your instructions were GREAT. I
got this done in about as much time as it took to watch the video. VERY
Good instructions!
My handle is intact, but only looses the top part of the door. When I
removed the handle to inspect, only the top connecting rod is there… so I
assume the bottom one is loose in the door. Any advice on retrieving it?
If you use the Dorman 74300 part, you don’t need to replace the attachment
points on the upper and lower release rods; the holes on the replacement
are exactly the same size as the original, so if the hold-downs are in good
shape, you can just reuse them. (Be gentle when you squeeze with pliers to
release the old handle; doesn’t require much force to depress the clips.)
great job thought is do a search get lucky with imfo im going to do this
soon so ill make a vid showing how to do it good pictures thow yea I read
those plastic ones suck thank god for after market engineers lol thnaks
Easy job if all goes well. The lower release rod on mine is stuck, it won’t
release the lower latch. Then upper one works fine. Anyone know how to free
up a stuck release rod?
Thank you very much for posting this! Wouldn’t have been able to replace
the handle with it! BTW, did the levers on the sides of the seats snap off
your truck too?
Easy to follow instructions. Helped me replace the 3rd door handle on my 97
GMC Sonoma. Replacement took about 10-15 minutes. Thanks for the
instructions!
Great tutorial!!! I thought I was the ONLY one having to deal with the
headaches of broken levers and the door handle! I loved my S-10 when I
bought it but now I have to be VERY careful with even reclining the seats!
Sucks to tell anybody that gets in my truck, “don’t adjust the seat please”
smh…
