Have you have to replace your fuel inyectors yet or just clean them with fuel inyection cleaners..??
I have a 2005 sedan cobalt 2.2L I just replace my fuel filter, the tool is for removing the line of the fuel, it has to go inside to unclip then it comes off, install just push the line all the way in then check for leaks. I did mine a little bit of trouble removing the 2 lines but them, real easy you save alot of money just by DIY…
I can’t get the sliver fuel line off. How do I do it?
Wish I didnt live in CA. Our fuel filters are in the tank essentially and more difficult to change.
Thank you for the Video. We have an 09 I got the two sides loose easy. The last white one from the tank side was Too deep to get to .Shoved way in from factory.

You should put a disclaimer that this does not apply to SS cobalts with a turbocharger (08+ LNF) I went through all the hassles of buying the part and tool and jacking the car up and even lowering the gas tank before I found out that the fuel filter is integrated with the fuel pump and it is not serviceable. Good video though

I have an ’05 Cobalt-with the 2.2 engine. My fuel line (the one that requires the little wrench to remove) is all metal. The 3/8″ tool is ONLY for removal on my filter. Plus-they give you a plastic fitting with the filter. The fitting goes on the fuel line all the way til the flange is flush with the circular housing-then the whole thing goes into the filter until it kinda clicks. Takes some pressure. Remember-wrench is only for removal.
I have a 2007 LS sedan and it was usin up a bit more gas then usual so I thought I’d change the fuel filter but didn’t know how to go about it. Thanks to your vid I am going to do it myself. Again choice vid for a first timer.

PPL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the filter is the same in all the cobalt’s pursuits(only in canada) & g5’s from 2005 to 2010. NO MATTER if its the 2.0L the 2.2L, or even the 2.4L.

I think I remember reading that in some Cobalts (maybe on the 4 doors) the filter may be located on towards the front of the car on the passengers side, close to the front wheel. I am not 100% certain so the only other thing I can think of is check at a local auto parts store, sometimes when you give them the year and model they will pull up the part and it tells them the location. Good luck!
Once you use the disco tool to put the line in you push it inside as far as the disco tool and line will allow you to. You will notice that part of the disco tool (or almost all of it, I cnt remember exactly) goes inside the filter while you are pushing the line in.
Once you do it you can feel how stabe and secure the line feels. Remember to check for leaks once you get done with the whole process.
@irvingludwig I have a question if I replace my fuel filter and use the fuel line disco tool, how will I know if the line that goes into the filter is secure? how far will I need to know if it is going into the filter properly and will the disco tool tell me how?
I found the same location you showed but, theres nothing there on my car. I saw an earlier comment had mentioned their fuel filter was no longer accessible. How do I find out whether my fuel filter is in the gas tank or no longer accessible? My car is a Chevy Cobalt 2007 2.2 4 door. Thanks for the video!

you can get in in any auto store such as Napa, Auto Zone, Advance Auto, O’Reylis etc…. Just go in and tell them you need a fuel line disconnect tool and they will tell you what size you need for your car.

Thanks. I bought them used (didn’t have enough $ for new at the time) =S… They were originally all silver but I went ahead and painted them black and did the red on the outside rim. I used spray paint. It is very easy to do (and time consuming), the only thing that was a pain in the ass was making sure that the Red outlined was perfectly round. I used a lot of painters tape =D. They are not 100% perfect but they sure looked damn good!
