When i turn mine on (98 Silverado) most times it turns off whenever it
wants and stops on the windshield any place it likes and washer fluid also
quit,,,,,help,,,,236,000 miles
Autozone carries the whole board and connector 4 21.99 if this dosent work
wow! great savings buddy, thanks for the comment 🙂
Thanks you so much. I went to the shop and the mechanic told me $280 for a
new motor and $281 for a new switch. That’s $561 vs. $8.87. I did the whole
job in about ten minutes. The soldering iron was $3.99 the magnify glass
was $1.99 and the solder was 2.89. Thanks you so much.
thank you sir Luke Cheesman
Thanks man. Worked great. Keep up the great videos.
Great video! I just repaired the wipers on my S-10! Thanks!
Very helpful. You saved me $65 for a rebuilt wiper motor. I would like to
send you an appreciation gift to you for saving money
I meant thanks for helping working class people with your video.Working
class has to stretch their money further all the time. Many go without just
to get by and hats off to you for helping others with your video.
I’m not rich HAHAHAHA
I didnt watch the video but just read the comments. Enjoy that this helps
people save money.Rich get ruch
Rich get richer, poor get poorer. I dont have a blazer but thanks for
posting.
nice comment thank you, and I can second that info is legit and does work
well.
Thank you so much! Saved me a bunch of money. $7 for a soldering iron and
solder vs. $40-$75 on a wiper motor. Worked like a charm. For those who
don’t have a T20 socket I’d suggest using a 1/4″ socket with a T20 bit
inside (the bit you would use to put into your cordless drill). Using a T20
screwdriver is nearly impossible to get the 3 screws out unless they are
the stubby screwdrivers. A socket will get them out much easier in the
tight location where the wiper motor is located. Thanks!
For real, who’s the asshole who would give this video a negative? A Ford
owner perhaps.
yes, most likely this is the problem. Intermittent wipers, I would wiggle
that plug with wipers on, to see if it connects. Then it would be cold
solder joints.
I would first check the fuses. if you have a voltmeter maybe see if the
motor is getting power with ignition switched to on, and wipers set to low.
Other than that, this should work if your wipers are running
intermittently. Try wiggling the plug while the wipers are turned on, if
they kick on or you hear a whining sound this maybe the solution. fuse or
motor could be out though.
You solved my problem too. Thanx. (And if you are ever around in Hungary, I
will buy you dinner. 🙂
How could someone dislike the video? Thanks for the vid
Also thank you for commenting 🙂
Keith, Your video saved me $50 on a new motor. I pull the circuit board.
Although I could not notice any broken connections, I heated and soldered
the most likely points, cleaned up the boards, installed it and voila. The
wipers worked!
97 GMC Jimmy….my wipers work sometimes..mostly they don’t work. Could it
be the board? arcticcow@gmail.com
lol awesome. I’m glad you saved big dollars with this video, it makes it
worthwhile my time recording and editing out the stupidity in it all,
simplifying things for real people out there. I don’t know where Travis air
force base is, but thanks for the offer. I don’t think my wife would
appreciate that lol
Thanks for posting this. I just did this to my ’98 s10 and fixed the
problem.
now how do you fix the rear wiper when it hums but dose jack shit? lol
Thank you for commenting 🙂 I’m glad you got it working. The cracks are
microscopic, I’m using a jeweler’s lense for this video and on all my
circuit board repairs too. I’m glad you got it running again, safe drivers
yay. Well maybe not safe, at least visible windshields. +1
Thanks for the comment 🙂
Keep in mind the importance of this repair, driving without wiper function
is a huge hazard, not being able to see is the number one cause of
accidents. I highly suggest repairing it as soon as possible, and either
way in the mean time, use some Rain X on your windshield to help the rain
bead and clear the windshield with wind. I also recommend Rain X even after
the repair, it really helps. Just apply some with a paper towel in circles,
let it haze dry a minute and wipe again with another cloth
ya I wiggled that wiring connector and its lost the soldered connections at
the circuit board. Thats gonna be fun to take out. Its under the dash in a
really cramped up location
thank you for commenting everybody 🙂 Makes it all worthwhile
found out today i believe it is a fuse issue. i opened up the fuse box and
just kinda touched the fuse in the box and it started working. but about an
hour later i go to turn them on and they don’t work again, going to check
the fuse and possibly replace it. if that doesn’t work i’ll check on the
cold joints and go from there
worked great thanks for the info 97 jimmy has wipers again !! and they shut
off
Yes it’s not fun, I agree. But it is rather simple in comparison to other
jobs. It only took me like a half hour, it takes longer to get out than to
resolder the joints. Vans are usually always more cramped for motor
compartment space, so I imagine it will be tougher to get to in your
situation. It might be painstaking with time and irritating to remove the
part, but it is better than driving on a rainy day with no wipers. It
seemed mine always broke on rainy days and worked fine clear days.
Of course I missed the recall, so your sayign if I take it in they wont fix
it? or even give me a new board, that sucks
He missclicked
Hey Keith, my mechanic wanted $170 bucks to replace my wiper motor on a
1988 Blazer S-10. I was able to fix the wiper module myself after watching
your video. I did have to borrow a soldering gun and a little socket wrench
from my neighbor. If you are ever around Travis AFB, I will buy you dinner.
Angela
Probably a parts seller gave the negative, less profit if people can do
this repair. Thanks for the video Keith, great tip for most soldier joints
on car electrical issues.
That does sound like the same issue related to this video. Try it out, I’m
sure it should work for ya! If it doesn’t then you lost nothing, you were
going to buy a new one anyway right? Temporarily if you want a quick fix if
its raining and you gotta be somewhere, take something like a thin piece of
aluminum or something you can bend in half, wedge it inbetween the firewall
and the plug and it will temporarily force the joint to connect. This will
work for maybe a few months to a year tops.
BTW, cracked the cover from desperately beating on it trying to get my
wipers to work, I just took the hot soldering gun and plastic welded it
(for lack of a better description), then I spread a very thin coat of
silicone on the inside of the cover and let it dry before installing it.
I have a 97 S10 Truck and was having occasional wiper failures. Thanks to
your video, I was able to repair my own control board. Thank you VERY MUCH
for making this video!
Excellent video, worked for me. Thanks a lot.
Keith, Travis AFB is between Sacramento and San Francisco (38 miles from
each city). We will make that dinner for three.
They will and can fix it for you at a dealership. I’m saying don’t waste
your money because it’s not a very difficult repair for a common person.
Thank you for the nice comment 🙂 Youtube hospitality
hey man i just bought me an 82 s-10 pickup, found out the other day that
the wipers don’t work at all. could it be just cold joints? a blown fuse?
or something else, i know you’re no expert i was just wondering if maybe i
could get some input before i just go out and buy brand new motors for
them. thanks in advance and i hope you can reply back
