The boots may come with the backing plates if needed. The more things you fix like the boots the longer the repair will last. Sometimes I am forced to do what the person can afford. Thanks for watching.
New dust boot would be nice! 6:28 Love that! I can’t believe that you just can’t buy the boots without having to purchase the whole kit. Getting ready to replace both sides on my 01Sonoma ZR2 HighRider with your detailed instructions. Great job! Thanks.
This one did not ,but it could make some noise if it fell apart in some way.
when the brake went bad did it make any noises such as a knocking sound from the rear?
Thanks for watching

Great video. I appreciate how thorough you were on everything. This Helped
I never changed the rear brakes on my blazer, its parking brake isn’t holding, It looks like it will go a lot smoother now that I watched this… thanks
I get them off ebay most of the time for about half the price the autoparts stores want for them. Every set I have gotten has had both sides in it.
Without seeing it is hard to say why the brakes didn’t last long, Could be the type of pads or could be a slide or caliper sticking or a number of other things. More than likely it is the same design, Not sure if all the rotors are the same ,I just look them up by the application. The parking brake would need the rotor taken off ,I would think before you could tell the condition of the shoes. The backing plate should be blocking the view to see in there..
ALSO, when you buy an e-brake kit like the AC DELCO 17784B, does it service BOTH wheels or just one wheel? Thanks.
I know it’s the same procedure for a ZR2 P/U but is the rotor the same? The ZR2 has the 8.5 rearend and I believe is 4″ wider…I had rear rotors & pads replaced less than a year ago at a major tire chain by a friend who works there and I can trust, and I only drive the truck 1x-2x per week, maybe less than 1000 miles, and rotors/pads and e-brake are all shot & grinding…didn’t pull a wheel yet but pulled pieces from between what may have been the backing plate & rotor–probably rusted e-brake.
LOL . that will do it .
My stepson was having a problem getting the rotor off, I taught him how to use a 3lb sledge. :).
