In this video I take a look at a customer’s 2024 Chevy Trax that’s losing coolant with no visible external leaks.
It’s also blowing white smoke out of the tailpipe and has a cold start misfire. If you’ve been around long enough, you already know where this might be heading.
We’ll pressure test the cooling system, inspect the cylinders, and see what the evidence tells us. Is it a head gasket? Cracked head? Something worse? Let’s dig in and see what we “see.”

GM with a bad motor. Big surprise
Safe to say that American craftsmanship has been ruined by corporate greed. Shouldn't be a problem making a lasting gasoline engine.
I don't do that on camera lol love the playful banter like a good husband should ya give her a hard time.
Have you ever seen or heard of an internal coolant leak that seals up when the engine gets hot? 99 Chevy Tahoe 5.7 holds pressure when hot but loses a reservoir full of coolant every 4000 miles. no drips on ground no white smoke.
Leave the coolant/radiator cap loose so can't build pressure and perhaps it won't leak as much. Maybe not at all. May buy some extra time to failure.
Looks like there is class action suit for these engine due to severe engine failure, ie conrods leaving the block
Great advice as always. Holding onto my 13 yo truck as long as practical.
GM is quickly becoming the new Stellantis.
All Trax lead to the recycler. or… the Trax of my tears.
GM does not make "cars" anymore remember? That came from korea, GM Korea (formerly known as Daewoo)…
24:58 Waiters are gonna wait……
Is it possible that the exhaust manifold is an integrated exhaust/coolant passage type??? if so they tend to crack allowing coolant to bleed into the exhaust manifold or some area in the head into the exhaust runners or intake runners!!
As upset as I was with my sons 2004 civic having a blown head gasket after a 200k miles, I would have taken this down to the Chevy dealer and set it on fire in the front of the dealership. What a POS
70k on the clock and she’s DOA! Engineered to fail what a shame.
