Looks like the same issue my wife’s car is facing. Thanks for your
diagnostic video and insight, Jeffery, you rock!

William Lack says:

great video man, glad you were able to fix that yourself. I wouldn’t want
my mom, girlfriend or sisters to be driving a car and the steering wheel
locks up.

Accacia A says:

How much is that part and what exactly is it called so I could possibly
look it up? And I have a Chevy Cobalt LS 2006 with the same problem.

clintweber08 says:

Steering wheel locking up is possubly due to the eletronic power steering
they recalled certain models. Had two columns put in my 2006 cobalt.

Kevin Carter says:

Thank you! I brought my 2006 Cobalt (the only model without a recall for
this problem) with a printout of the official Chev TSB for this specific
issue to my Chev dealer and they charged me $170 in labour to NOT fix this
problem. Instead they coded me a new key and said the problem was the key
was worn. I didn’t have the problem for two months so I figure they were
right, but now it’s back and “permanent” (the solenoid would eventually
release on it’s own before) so I’ll fix it myself this time.

NemesisSypheroth says:

This was great. Have you any plans to do one about the locking and
unlocking problem in detail? I have had both problems that you mentioned in
this video. Thanks

bluefrog85 says:

And thanks 4 the video btw. I had heard it was a pin or something but it’s
nice to see in detail what it is. =)

wmkitt says:

lol.. HHR and the G5 have the same issue..still no fix from GM and THEY ARE
AWARE of this. my dealer wont touch it for free of course

Jeffery Lee says:

In most cases the shaft falls out and has to put back in. It is located
around the gear shift. Thank you for watching the video.

components are identical this video should help me fix it

DJ MARCELUS says:

hey man thats awesome, Im having the same problem with my 2009 Chevy
malibu..will try this and repsot my results

bluefrog85 says:

So was that pin that you needed- was it still in there and had just fallen
out or did you have to buy a new one? I need to pull mine apart and try and
fix it… I’ve also gotta mess with the engine light. Its throwing a code
saying the fuel system is running lean and it could be the mass airflow or
something else. replaced that and cleared it and its came right back on..
Dunno what on earth to do next for that. Lol.

endo2th says:
