GREAT VIDEO!!!!!!!!!!!! 1. A suggestions on the high mileage engines. The
spark plug may loosen a bit and then become slightly difficult to remove as
you are threading it out. The old plug may have carbon build up on the
threads inside the combustion chamber. Work that carbon off by threading
the plug back into the head and then back out a few times.

2. It is 100 times easier to remove the front wheels and wheel well
liners. It gives you amazing access to the plugs and wires from the wheel
well. Saves the ribs!

3. We see a number of people come in to our shop after installing
non-Delco plugs with a misfire code. These LS based engines (4.8, 5.3,
6.0, 6.2) like the Delco iridium plugs and GM plug wires. You can buy
them online for same price as aftermarket parts. BTW we are NOT a GM shop.

4. Its also a good time to make sure you see ALL the exhaust manifold
bolts are in place. These bolts tend to snap off from the normal heat and
cool cycle of the exhaust. If they are missing you want to replace them
soon, otherwise the manifold will warp and cost more $$$ to repair. There
are videos of people replacing these bolts. I like to replace them at 100K
miles with a stainless ARP stud and nut set, then you never have the
problem again.

Wanted to thank you for the great video. This saved me a lot of time and
hassle
!

Michael Stephan says:

Pretty basic. I found if you twist the plug wire it will eventually come
loose.
FYI: DO NOT!!!!! use anti-seize lube on plugs per plug bullitens from most
if not all plug manufacturers. It permits the 20% more torque due to the
lubricant and corrodes the special anti-seeze coating they already install
on the plug (Zinc, etc.). If the plug threads are not black they are
already coated. That is pretty much all plugs these days. Also AC41985 is
now AC4110. They are iridium tipped plugs and OEM spec. Yo want to use
Iridium plugs in the 5.3L

Caleb Henry says:

Thanks. I have a 5.3 as well and since they are identical, I’ll be going
with Bosch as well. Won’t go with the platinums, although they are
extremely popular these days.

Brian McKinney says:

Great video! Mine has about 230k now and needs this done· After watching, I
know what Im doing this weekend

ItsRoyalty says:

I’ve got an 04 Avalanche 5.3 will the steps be the same?

Dennis Scogin says:

what did the mpg difference come out to be if any ? that and did you have
auto zone reset the codes or did you just unhook the battery let the truck
figure it out on finished start up. o ya very helpful video thanks for
making.

Desiderio Fabunan says:

Very helpful. Thanks!

Gina Marie says:

Thanks! Your vid explains it well enough for even a woman to DIY! But I’m
hoping I don’t have any issues to taking any of the spark plugs off and
out.

Chad Levesque says:

Hey Joe. Do the wires need to match up a certain way or can they go on as
is? I noticed my new wires have numbers on each end. Are they supposed to
be in some order?

Lewis Reichardt says:

like your video but if u use your socket and extension this will make it
easier to put in your spark plug buy hand also use your boot lube on the
other end for the same reason you use it on the spark plug end

RICHARD SHORT says:

I finally found the right video…Thanks for your upload. How hard was it
to pull the aluminum sleeves off in such a small space? Did u use pliers
for that? Thanks again!

John Martin says:

Good video. I have Platinum +4 and says its for my vehicle. Whats your
look on these? I have a 2007 Tahoe 5.3 LT

Acordionista509 says:

how tight should i tighten with the ratchet

Caleb Henry says:

I have a 2004 Z71 as well. Where did you look to find what size spark plug
and what kind to get after putting the wrong ones in? Also, how did you
choose your wires and why?

Chad Levesque says:

Thanks for the video. It really helped. I have a 2007 GMC Yukon Denali
and am learning to try and take care of this sort of stuff on my own.
Unfortunately I have so much “crap” on the passenger side (hoses, wires &
AC tubing) to work around. Had to do the last 2 from under the truck.
Barely had room to move my hand. Thx Again!

Ray Coronado says:

…Joe knows…good job!

23antaeus says:

Great video very informative. I have the same problem with my truck now I
feel confident I can do it myself. Thanks

MEMO ROMERO says:

great video helps a lot , how you pull the metal cap

Dylan Irvin says:

ive tried pulling my plug wires off a couple times now. but they jus seem
sealed on. did it take you awhile to get each one off? I don’t wanna crack
the end off. ive heard jamming an air chuck in there loosens it up? gunna
try once more then its off to the shop..

Joseph Montgomery says:

Thanks Bro… i have to agree with you… Its getting crazy. I went to look
for a video for doing this work and couldnt find one so I figured it might
help someone in the future. Glad it helped.

Nancy Solis says:

hey ! joseph my father says to thank you!!!! he could not find anything on
youtube for his 2005 yukon. untill he came across your video. he is totally
gratefull !!! thanks !!!

GeorgeCarlin23 says:

about to change my wires and plugs out on my 2000 silverado, how necessary
is the lube stuff???

Joseph Montgomery says:

I am glad it helped your father and thank you for the comment.

Joseph Montgomery says:

its not necessary but HIGHLY recommended. It only cost about a $1 so it
would be crazy not to use the lube. You will be thankful the next time you
need to change out your plugs and wires if you use the lube now.

Nelson Watkins says:

I just hit 186k and thought it was time to do this too. Caught this video
BIG HELP. Thxs

Joseph Montgomery says:

You will be surprised at how easy it is… you will never pay to have
simple maintenance done again on your vehicles. This will be a huge
confidence boost for you.

Fernando Morales says:

Great video thanks.

intruderps says:

Thank you for this video. I like to do all my own work on my truck, but I
wasn’t sure how easy it would be to remove the rear spark plugs on the left
side, it looks hard, but it’s easier than it looks. Right side is no
problem.

Rob Thompson says:

Knocked it out with your helpful tips, not all stuff on you tube is dumb
shit…again thanks

gilbo437 says:

Thanks that was a very good video. Thanks for taking time to make this..

Gtbomb1 says:

jwooter69 says:

¿Y U NO HAVE OWN DYI SHOW?

Nicolas Carmelo says:

Great job on the video. Answered my question on how hard the number 8 was
going to be

Brethern Keith says:

SMH, hey brah this is the best video ive saw and i had to respond and say
thanks! i got a 2003 4.8L and i went out and got the AC Delco iridium. it
looks so easy a caveman can do it.

Joseph Montgomery says:

I dont… I have been getting a lot of requests but at this time I dont. I
dont do much work on vehicles other than routine maintenance so not a point
and i dont do this for a job. I will on the other hand start a workout
channel so if you are interested in working out then take a look soon.

arl0210 says:

Thanks for the plain language explaination

Brandon Gray says:

“First, you need your Redbull”. Haha….I totally AGREE!

kerwin velasquez says:

this on my chevy tahoe 2007 5.3 L thanks. god bless you!

Sexymanye419 says:

Great video helped out alot

Joseph Montgomery says:

Yeah, its really not that hard at all. As long as you have the different
size extensions you are going to be fine. Thanks for viewing.

Chaoskrazy69 says:

Lol helped me get started, and just referred back to the video for a few
details. Thanks.
