2003 Chevrolet S10 ABS Wheel Sensor Replacement

I finally decided to order a replacement anti-lock brake wheel sensor for my truck, and the Keykeeper helped me install it. The hardest part of this process …

I believe the bull logo means made in mexico, many things on my ’03 are
made in mexico, the crappy front springs that sagged in 30,000 miles were
one of the items made in mexico — steel wasn’t heat treated right.

Good to have the safety feature working properly again I bet. My car
doesn’t have such a feature, it’s old. . . . and slow but it’s a nice
enough car.

ghettoc0 says:

Well put Bill.

uxwbill says:

It’s not so bad if you can get the stuff to come apart. What we really both
hate is exhaust work, because as I’m sure you know…stuff almost never
comes apart whole and the space is usually cramped at best. I’ve tried to
take care of the truck, by hosing it down regularly during the winter. I
think maybe it has helped.

Collin Blackburn says:

Why is the seat starting to wear already? it looks like anyway… thought
Furhead replaced the cover for you?

uxwbill says:

I wanted to put a lift in the big garage, but it never happened because it
the construction class didn’t want to make it any taller than 9 feet walls
would allow.

ARRRGH SQUEAKY BELTS BOTHER THE HELL OUT OF ME.

blazerlover25 says:

you might be cruising right along to the poorhouse if you have the
keykeeper working on you’re vehicle!!!

ncrdisabled Submarine vet says:

You know the worst part about the replacement part ? Why do they not just
make the part that is bad not with out the other piece

FrankTheCat says:

The GM TechII tools are hella expensive. I looked into buying a set so I
could better work on the electrical system in my girlfriend’s Saab, but
have since decided I’ll wait until I find a kit at a garage sale for $5…

UBBERTANKER says:

haha never heard gm=general mess lol

uxwbill says:

He did, but I don’t help things by sliding in and out of the truck.

uxwbill says:

I’m driving right along to that first comment!

sqwuade says:

Nice vid guys!

MrRedneckjosh says:

how meany miles are on this thing, is you dont mind me asking??

Matt Sink says:

Hey Bill I have a question for you to ask the keykeeper. My ABS light
sometimes comes on along with the brake light but I shut my truck off then
start it back up and they go off. Cause what it will do is I start it and
my brake and abs light both come on. Then I shut it off and turn it back on
and they go off. What could that be? Cause there is nothing wrong with my
brakes.

astrosafari727 says:

I gave it an oil charge a couple of months ago, but I’m not sure if it was
PAG oil? I’ve never heard of it.

ThumbdownMan says:

How much did this repair job cost you? Thumbs up by the way.

compactc9 says:

They do make portable lifts where you basically get 4 hydraulic jacks (they
lift up more than a jack would, it is a real lift) and sort of a main unit
with a pump. Would be perfect for the garage since you wouldn’t need to
build it into the floor.

does cow have a horns? i only know of bull…

dana44s says:

and I’m tagging along 2nd 😉

uxwbill says:

I don’t recall how much the part cost–maybe $75? It’s almost always the
labor that is more expensive, so if you have the tools and knowledge to do
it yourself, you can save a lot of money by doing so.

WhoSaidTyler says:

So…if people up there take a vehicle and garage it all winter without it
touching salty roads, does it avoid all the rust issues or is there so much
residual salt along the roads that even rain during the summer cause rust?

crazyredneckmechanic says:

cool

NJRoadfan says:

I could really use one of them lifts to fix my other car. I have to fix the
“instant fire” option that was added over the weekend thanks to rust.

squibbles0 says:

you need to drive the truck ABOVE 5MPH for the light to go out

uxwbill says:

I was going to do a fourth…it may yet show up. I’m uploading the
Keykeeper’s videos because he has no way to edit them since his laptop
broke and the hard drive in the “spare” iMac broke.

uxwbill says:

Garaged vehicles usually fare a lot better, though there is a “gotcha”…a
vehicle that’s just been through the snow and salt that is put into the
garage will be “eaten”, possibly worse than any other. Washing the vehicle
helps to stave off the damage, but that’s also risky as the water freezes
almost instantly in the car wash. I don’t know about the spring/summer.
Here I would say the early spring rains help to wash a lot of the salt away
early on.

zx8401ztv says:

Well the keykeeper made that look like a walk in the park 🙂 My god, is
that scan tool big enough lol. I was supprised how decent the underside was
as well, pity you didnt have a spray can full of wd40 or similar, as i
would have drenched the rusty parts to displace any water and try to slow
the rusting process down a bit. Good video bill, as allways 🙂
