Richie Killian says:

is this by any chance the shift solenoid C? Please i need an answer quickly im stuck on my 95 cadillac sts

eaglevision993 says:

It took around 5-7 hours total, if you don´t count the day in between I waited for the new solenoid to arrive. The clip for the solenoid is THE only big problem you will encounter in this job.. At least when you do it the first time. It takes patience and time but it will eventually go in. You have only around 1.5 in. room to work so flexible hands/ slim fingers are really helpful.

eaglevision993 says:

Thanks, I wish it would have been possible to record the actual disassembly/assembly but I only had my Iphone as camera (no tripod) and I was alone so that was the best I could do.

redbaron2448 says:

Can’t understand you. You need sub titles. Lol

eaglevision993 says:

P1577 is BBV Sensor Circ Lo Voltage / Brake Boost Vacuum Sensor

P1860 is TCC PWM Solenoid Circ Electrical, which relates to the torque converter but should not interfere with reverse gear.

Those codes should not have anything in common with a no reverse condition. Any other codes?

Best regards

Benjamin

hello eaglevision993 i am from saudia arabia .i have 2000 cadillac dts which not go to reverse but it run forward very good when i check it with scanner it give code po1860 po 1577 ,please help me love from arabia

Uh… Yeeahh.. 🙂 Great video.

eaglevision993 says:

Other than CV axles I could only imagine a bearing making that noise. How are your wheel bearings? Very ahrd to guess without hearing it. But if it is more of a groaning noise I would say wheel bearing if it changes with speed. If it changes with speed it must be on the output side of the transmission. If it chnages with RPMs then on the engine/input side. Did you ask in the CadillacForums? Best regards

Defcon737 says:

could use your expertise plse.!…2001 Cadillac sts Seville ..thought my roaring noise was coming from my cv axles ..replaced them both ..no such luck .noise starts at about 20 mph ..and gets worse ..the noise sounds like its coming from the center of the trans at the bottom of the pan .would a bad tcc make this noise ?

Jaime Huezo says:

ya i do have same codes. and hes right is has to be the tcc solenoid, and the next is the circuit solenoid which is in the bottom. the second 1 is easy when you do the trans. oil u can see it there.

Jaime Huezo says:

wonder how many hours toke you to removed all the parts. and to remove the clip that comes with tcc solenoid how did you do that.

eaglevision993 says:

If I remember it right, I supported the transmission at the transmission pan. I placed a piece of wood on a jack and just put enough pressure on the jack to firmly secure the trans. Not too tight! The wood should be big enough to reach at least 2 edges of the trans pan.

grandmajan64 says:

Just about to tackle the TCC solenoid, thanks to your video. Before removing the motor mount, where exactly did you support the transmission? Please

LONPISTOLPACKINPEEZY says:

Hey blackshit. Did yu get it fixed. Looks very do-able

ringmaster764 says:

thanks appreciate it ima have replace soon I got some to do for 600 just wanted to make sure before I paid

eaglevision993 says:

Under normal conditions with the engine at operating temperature the transmission shifts 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th (overdrive). Additionally, it can lock up the torque converter to minimize slip. This may feel like an additional shift as the RPMs drop another 2-300 when the torque converter clutch engages, aka “locks up”. If you have both codes, chances are high you have the same problem as I had, a bad TCC switch. For the other lights, you have to check the codes to find the sources.

ringmaster764 says:

yea I have both codes and wat you mean buy locking up you mean wen trany shifts I notice a lil more jerk at times but just a lil but at times it shifts smooth I also have the service stability sustem abs and traction light that come on at times 2

eaglevision993 says:

The method shown is in no shop manual or such, it is a unique method used by DIY repair guys. Check the Cadillac Forums.com to see if other Deville owners did it. I bet they did.

eaglevision993 says:

The 4t80e is the exact same transmission. Only the space around the trans matters. You may have a look yourself. If the space between the frame/fender and the side cover is around an inch or so I´d say it is the same. There is not much space, 1-2 inches at most iirc.

eaglevision993 says:

That is the EXACT model year and transmission/ powertrain on which this video was shot. I doubt that the Deville, which should have more space around the engine as it is a bigger car, would be different.

Regular shops will most likely not do it this way. Dropping the cradle will get them way more money. Cheating shops may tell you ” Uh it was a hell of a job with dropping the engine and such…” while doing it the easy way. Only use a shop with good reputation if you have to.

blackshit55 says:

just called my transmission shop to have this done and they said they cant do it on the 4t80e (2000 deville) does that sound right??

eaglevision993 says:

Let us know how it went! And remember, take your time when you remove and reinstall the solenoid. It is somewhat tricky as the view is very restricted. If you encounter any problems you may send me mail anytime.

Ryan Howerter says:

I am in the middle of this now, eaglevision..Thanks for the video…i have one bolt on the tranny cover to remove before I get in. Hoping to finish tonight!

eaglevision993 says:

If I remember correctly, one of the bolt does not need to get all the way out. You remove the nut on the stud that holds the bracket. Behind it is another nut holding the transmission case. Just loosen this bolt until the case has enough room to swing open. The transmission case will not come all the way out.

e-Secure Alarm says:

How did you do it piecefarm?

e-Secure Alarm says:

I am having the same issue not being able to get that mount bracket out. I see that you dont actually need to take it completly out but how do you then get the bolt/nut out in order to take the transaxle case out.

eaglevision993 says:

Do you only have the P1860 or also the P0741 code? Both together are 99% the solenoid itself. It is normal for the code to reset after some time. The car tries to lock up a number of times before it sets the code and it depends on how fast and constant you drive how often the lockup is actually requested.

Did you lose the lockup at all times ot does it work after you reset the codes?

ringmaster764 says:

i have the p1860 code so i know it somthing to do wit the tcc solenoid but when i reset the codes it dont come on till like a few hours later so could it be the wire going to the tcc splenoid

eaglevision993 says:

Glad I could help. As for the job, yeah a magnet and lots of patience are the most essential tools.

piercefam1 says:

Thanks to eaglevision993 and both videos, I was able to replace my tcc solenoid in my 2001 Cadillac Deville DHS. I could not have done it without this video and the personal emails and tips from eaglevision993. It is possible to change it out but it is a test of patience. Reinserting the little U shaped clip is the most difficult part of the entire procedure. GET A MAGNET and tie a string to the clip if you attempt to do this. It works!

piercefam1 says:

It won’t let me send you a photo. My email is drbenpierce@yahoo.com the bottom two bolts on the bracket came off but the one you can’t remove only back out is the one i am having issues with

eaglevision993 says:

I will send you a PM with my mail!

piercefam1 says:

Do I need to jack up the transmission to back out that bolt? If you send me your email i will send you a picture for clarification. I have a few more questions if you don’t mind. Thanks again.

piercefam1 says:

Thanks for the reply. It’s the one that will not come out that i am talking about. It has a nut between the frame and the arm of the motor mount then it is a threaded bolt with another nut against the side plate. I will figure out the size but its bigger than 18 mm. The main issue for me is backing it out with almost no space to work with. I can only access it from underneath because it is so tight a space.

eaglevision993 says:

The bracket you see at 3:50 is the one that will not come out. The lower 2 bolts will come out, the upper one will not. It can only be loosened because of clearance issues. The nut on the trans mount itself, going through the frame sideways may have been a 18mm nut but I really can´t tell you for sure.

eaglevision993 says:

Or do you mean the bolt that goes through the frame and holds the mount to the frame itself? The one with the locking tab?
