This is such a poor design…

I am doing this headlight repair on 06 STS for 3rd time in less than 2 years now, I have never been able to disconnect the headlight wiring harness!!! I need to take it off this time so I can seal the lens, water/condensation inside.  Please reveal more to "just push the little pin" and it comes right off…. I have come short of probably breaking mine!!!!

MrCougar214 says:

An after-market LED kit would only cost $60 bucks, fit inside the housing, and look better than the stealership lights.

Great Video, I never would have known, John

James Petrecca says:

mine needed a ballast and a bulb due to water getting in light, new bulb was 200.00. ballast free it was used , with labor 380.00. he also replace the small light on other side . since bumper was off.

jackson jones says:

I guess what I'm asking is how to wire hid ballast and relays doesn't seem to have enough room for it all any ideas

I got a 2011 Cadillac DTS and I never put back in the bolt that goes at the bottom from the rear of the lens. You know, the one bolt you see after removing the wheel lining. The reason I did that was to prevent from me having to remove the bumper cover. What are your thoughts on that?

Dr Jimbo says:

…have to remove bumper cover to change headlight on DTS as well…not a great task but nuisance for guys who were born in the 1940's…good video

Smithjgwhs3 says:

Never would of thought it took all that

Greg Thompson says:

One of the better automotive videos I have seen. Thank you for providing it for us all to use. If this really is a 4 hour+ job to complete, the Caddy Engineering team responsible for the design should be summarily executed in front of a firing squad for an unnecessarily complex routine maintenance task. I am not sure I want to do this myself, but unless I sell a kidney to pay for it, I may not have an option.

Edward Brennan says:

Question what is the diff between the high cost bulbs and lower cost ones / What is approx cost difference? Is it worth it to change all at the time you have everything off?
Thanks great video instructions .

Lucas Downen says:

Your videos are great and very helpful! But please invest in a clip on wireless mic so we can hear what you're saying while far from the camera.

Fernando Alvarado says:

AssyriansRuleU4ever says:

What da hell you got take the whole car apart just to get to light bulb

I changed my 08 STS because I had condensation and sealed it with silicone after removing the condensation. Now my 08 STS-V has the same thing. I caused this at the pressure wash I think. I didn't think it was that hard, but without a video it could have been. Cadillac isn't the only one that is done this way, but it should have been designed better on all of them. Thanks!
